Grammy Award-winning British rock band Coldplay finally performed in Manila!
The four-man band brought its A Head Full of Dreams Tour to the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds on Tuesday night, April 4.
This is the band's first time to visit the Philippines since it was formed way back in 1996.

Around 35,000 people watched Coldplay perform in the Philippines for the first time. During the first part of the concert, multicolored lasers and fireworks lit up the sky, eliciting cheers from the crowd.

They opened the concert with "A Head Full of Dreams" before performing the iconic song "Yellow." After singing the song '"Yellow," the frontman greeted Pinoys by saying, "Magandang gabi sa inyo."
This was followed by the songs "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall," "The Scientist," and "Birds."
The set list also included "Paradise," "Always in My Head," "Magic," "Everglow," "Clocks," and a portion of "Midnight." They continued with "Charlie Brown" and "Hymn for the Weekend."
While singing "Fix You," Chris lay down on the stage and pointed at the sky. They also did a David Bowie cover of "Heroes." The mood became upbeat with "Viva la Vida" and "Adventure of a Lifetime."
The lineup also featured "Kaleidoscope, "In My Place," "Don't Panic," "Ink," "Something Just Like This," "A Sky Full of Stars," and finally, "Up&Up."

At one point, Chris brought out a flag bearing the word LOVE. He often talked about the importance of sending love to others.

"In the spirit of what we're trying to do in this tour, I was wondering, if you feel like it, sending good energy somewhere in the world that might need it.
"Someone you love or a place you think needs love and care...whether that's Syria or Colombia or Russia. All those places, we're going to send some great Philippine beautiful love from this concert."

Chris expressed his gratitude for everyone who attended their first Philippine concert. He promised, "All I can I say is that this is gonna be the best concert ever played. Now make the loudest noise you ever made!" The crowd responded with loud cheers.

Chris told the audience: "I'm so glad we took the flight to Manila and came here. Some have asked why it's taken such a long time to go to your beautiful country.
"The answer is we've just been rehearsing the whole time...17 years. We've been waiting until we had enough good songs to come to Manila.

Suddenly, Chris stopped and told the crowd, "I said the wrong line."

On the spot, Chris came up with a Manila Song!
"Because you got us so inspired, we'll make a song. It could be terrible," he jokingly warned.

Chris improvised the lyrics for a song about Manila. Part of it goes: "I'm so happy that we are here today / Even though thousands of you are so far away / It feels like you can't see Jack / It's two miles from the front to the back / We've been touring A Head Full Of Dreams / Now we've made it to the Philippines."
Before the concert ended, he promised that they will go back to the Philippines.
