Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil's movie, My Ex and Whys, is the highest-grossing film during the first half of 2017.
In a report by ABS-CBN News last August 11, the network announced that Star Cinema's net income reached a revenue of P1.2 billion for the first half of 2017.
This includes P400 million ticket sales from the LizQuen movie, which was shown last February 15, 2017.
My Ex and Whys is also included in the 10 most-searched movies in Google Philippines in the first quarter of 2017.
On the other hand, Can't Help Falling In Love, which starred Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, earned a total gross of P320 million.
The KathNiel movie opened on a Black Saturday last April 15, 2017.
The Alessandra de Rossi-Empoy rom-com Kita Kita is now considered the highest grossing Pinoy indie film with its box-office gross of P300 million. This film directed by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo is still being shown in cinemas nationwide.
The AlEmpoy movie overtook the previous record held by Heneral Luna that earned P257 million in the Philippines.
NET INCOME. Meanwhile, ABS-CBN Corporation also disclosed its total net income from January until end of June 2017.
The corporation earned a net income of P1.2 billion while its consolidated revenues reached a total of P19.3 billion.
ABS-CBN chief finance officer Aldrin Cerrado was quoted as saying, "As expected, our second quarter earnings performance was stronger than our first quarter, and we are particularly pleased to have been able to control overall costs for the first half of the year."
Based on Kantar Media TV Audience Measurement, the Kapamilya network had an overall audience share of 50.7 percent.
