The winners for two editions of Star Awards for Music were revealed in one awarding ceremony organized by the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC).
Following the theme "A Decade Of OPM Excellence," the awards night commemorates 10 years of handing out trophies to newbie and veteran singers.
The 9th (2017) and 10th (2018) Star Awards For Music were held simultaneously last night, September 9, 2018 at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre, Resorts World Manila.
Gary Valenciano was the recipient of the Dangal Levi Celerio Lifetime Achievement Award 2018.
To pay tribute to the veteran artist, Christian Bautista, Erik Santos, and Martin Nievera performed songs of Mr. Pure Energy.
Kris Lawrence, Jed Madela, and Morissette Amon were tapped to perform tribute songs for Basil Valdez and Imelda Papin.
Kim Chiu was so shocked by her award that she ran to the stage when she heard that she was named the 2018 Female Pop Artist of the Year for "Okay na Ako."
"Ito na ang pinakamagandang regalo na natanggap ko ngayong madaling araw!" gushed Kim. In her hurry, she forgot to thank the PMPC so she grabbed the mic again and said, "Talagang tine-treasure ko kapag music awards kasi hindi hindi ko akalain na may naniniwala sa akin sa pagkanta."
Xian told his co-host Kim last night: "Nakakatuwa na magkasama tayo ngayon dito sa PMPC."
Through her acceptance speech, Moira dela Torre took the opportunity to thank her ex-boyfriend because he was the reason why she was able to come up with hugot songs. "Matapos kong makipagtaguan ay naging malaya ako at nakatagpo sa aking tagpuan," quipped Moira who is now engaged to fellow singer Jason Marvin Hernandez.
