Kaori Oinuma is the latest teen housemate to join the Big Four of Pinoy Big Brother Otso. The 18-year-old Japanese-Filipino won a pole-balancing challenge to take the title, in the show’s January 3 episode.

Kaori beat fellow housemates Karina Bautista, Seth Fedelin, Lie Reposposa, and Reign Parani to become the second Big Four placer, joining Jelay Pilones, who took the first spot in the previous week.

The episode started with the exit of now ex-housemate Rhys Eugenio from the Big Brother house. His controversial exit caused waves on social media because netizens felt that his eviction was unfair.

After Rhys left, the housemates woke up to a new Star Dreamer waiting for them in the living room: Sansan Dagumampan, who joins the house officially as a house player, just like Gabby Sarmiento.

The housemates think Sansan and Gabby are housemates, but they are in fact just in the house to challenge them. Because of this, Big Brother did not allow the two Star Dreamers to play in the second Big Jump challenge.

In this Big Jump challenge, the five housemates had to balance a statue on top of a pole. Every 30 minutes, they need to add a new section of the pole to lengthen it, making the statue harder to balance.

The challenge lasted for more than two hours. Karina was first to bow out after the first hour, after she complained of dizziness.

Seth dropped out after an hour and a half because his leg was numb. Then Lie dropped her statue after the second hour, then Reign fell from exhaustion shortly after that.

Kaori’s victory ensures that she can become the Big Winner of this first batch of teens for PBB Otso.

The episode ended with the announcement that the public can now vote for the last two spots in the Big Four. Viewers can choose among Karina Bautista, Seth Fedelin, Reign Parani, and Lie Reposposa.
