Bossa nova sensation Sitti Navarro finally realizes her dream of having a Christmas album to offer to all her fans and even to casual listeners.
"I'd long planned for this-to give something
special to the fans-as grateful as I am for all the support that they had given
me," stated Sitti on the official press kit accompanying the record.
Dubbed as Ngayong
Pasko, the 13-track album consists of some of the most popular carols like
"I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus," "All I Want For Christmas Is You," "Winter
Wonderland," "Santa Baby," "Someday At Christmas," "Grown Up Christmas List,"
"Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," "The Christmas Song," "Boogie Woogie
Santa Claus," and "Jingle Bell Rock."
Sitti is excited with the inclusion of an
original number titled "Ngayong Pasko" written by Lambert Reyes.
Just like most of us, the pretty singer confided
having a fascination with all of the songs included in the album as she "grew up
listening and later on singing the songs during the yuletide season" most of
the time in front of her immediate family. The project aptly provided her the
opportunity to formally record the songs and release it commercially.
KEEPING
FANS WARM.
She confessed that the idea to come out with a Christmas album also stemmed
from Warner Music Philippines desire to come up with a new Sitti record before
the year ends. Sitti's last studio album, My
Bossa Nova, was released in 2007 with the label releasing a repacked issue
early this year complete with a bonus DVD of the singer's 2006 mega hit record,
Sitti Live!
"We're planning to release a new album hopefully
early next year," she told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in a recent
interview held at Red Box in Trinoma Mall, Quezon City. But for now, Sitti and
Warner hope to bind fans over and keep them warm for the cold season.
Ngayong
Pasko
is also indicative of Sitti's direction in terms of style. For the
arrangements, Sitti mentioned that she incorporated other
elements--particularly jazz leaning into pop--to render the album a different
feel away from her signature bossa nova attack.
Christian Bautista once again joined Sitti as
they cut "Baby, It's Cold Outside." Sitti is also happy with her collaboration
with the Las Pinas Boys Choir for "I'll Be Home For Christmas."
Working with the group was also a dream come
true for Sitti: "I am from Las Pinas and I'd always dreamt of working with
them."
