Michael Madsen will be the latest Hollywood actor to visit Manila. He will arrive next week to help promote the independent film Outrage, directed by Filipino-American director Ace Cruz. Madsen was part of the films Free Willy, Reservoir Dogs, Donnie Brasco, Kill Bill, and Sin City.
The film Outrage won the won the Best Science Fiction Picture Award at the Action on Film International Festival held in Pasadena, California, last year.
Ace Cruz, actor-director and writer of the film, announced that Michael Madsen will be arriving in Manila on August 12. He will be attending the red-carpet premiere of the film scheduled on August 14 at the SM Megamall Cinema 10, along with Cruz and his VIP guests. The film's theatrical release will begin by August 18.
While in the Philippines, Madsen will also be doing the rounds of press conferences, television and radio guestings, as well as theater tour on the first day of the movie's showing. Madsen wants to familiarize himself with the local movie industry while here as well as get the chance to see and experience Filipino culture.
Madsen, according to his good friend Director Ace Cruz, is very excited to come to the Philippines. "He also wants to hit the beaches while here so we will surely be bringing him to Boracay," he said.
Aside from Madsen, Outrage also stars Michael Berryman (Hills Have Eyes, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest), Natasha Lyonne (American Pie, Slums of Beverly Hills) and newcomer Pauly D.
Outrage is a sci-fi thriller with a spiritual message. It tells the story of a group of friends whose lives are threatened when they stay in a hunting lodge in a remote forest. Through the help of a medicine healer, lead actress Christine (played by Katie Fountain) realizes that she needs to overcome the negativity in her life to survive the hostage situation.
"My overall message for the film is summarized in the Law of Attraction. What we have in our hearts is what we attract in our life," said Ace who will also be acting in Outrage, his 6th film.
Cruz has been trying his hand in the international theater scene and is trying to build a name in the U.S. He plans to one day make a movie here in his home country and release it internationally. His company Spirit Films, LLC focuses on making films that will make a difference in people lives. His next project is a love story titled The Wishing Well, which will star Fil-Am actress Vanessa Hudgens of High School Musical fame.
