GMA-7's afternoon series starring Geoff Eigenmann and Carla Abellana continues to shine in the afternoon block as demonstrated by its high ratings. This is based on the People/Individual ratings report furnished by research agency AGB Nielsen Philippines among Mega Manila households.
Basahang Ginto has outranked its counterpart show on ABS-CBN from August 2 to 6, 2010. Last Monday, August 2, Basahang Ginto registered a rating of 6.4 percent compared to the 4.2 percent of ABS-CBN's Impostor. In the following days, GMA-7's modern-day remake continued leding in the ratings game as follows: August 3 (5.7 percent); August 4 (5.1 percent); August 5 (5.3 percent) and August 6 (5.3 percent).
The Kapuso show was also consistently ranked as one of the 5 most-watched programs in its block, according to the corporate communications department of GMA-7.
Geoff and Carla both say that their only priority at first was to give justice to their roles, entertain viewers, and surpass the expectations of their director, Mr. Joel Lamangan.
Direk Joel gave positive words about Geoff and Carla, who play Orang and Danny, respectively, in the afternoon Sinenovela. According to the veteran director, both are doing an excellent job on Basahang Ginto and deserve to be given more roles that will highlight and explore their skills in acting.
As the Sinenovela continues this week, Orang (Carla Abellana) and Danny (Geoff Eigenmann) are set to face their biggest obstacle as a couple when secrets surrounding the death of Orang's mother resurface. Rocky (Kevin Santos), in a desperate move to win over Orang, reveals to her that it was Danny that killed Ising (Rita Avila) on the night of the accident. Rocky, in connivance with Sylvia (Vaness del Moral), even videotapes Danny admitting to his faults, and shows this to a devastated Orang.
How will this painful revelation affect Orang and Danny's relationship? Could there still be hope for Danny, who lost not only his inheritance but also the woman he loves?
