The fans have spoken.
Villa Quintana star Elmo Magalona is the Pepsters' Choice Male Teen Star for 2013, garnering a total of 1,088,976 votes.
Other contenders for the title included Daniel Padilla, Khalil Ramos, Kristoffer Martin, and Derrick Monasterio.
In a recent interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Elmo expressed his gratitude to his solid supporters for giving him the over-all top spot in the said category.
“Una sa lahat, thank you sa mga bumoto sa akin sa PEP at nanalo ako.
"Sana makita n’yo lang lagi yung best sa mga performance ko.
“Gusto lang nila iparamdam sa akin na talagang they showed their full support because last year gano’n din ang nangyari.
"Na-nominate din [ako] in the first and second quarter of Pepsters' Choice Awards.
“Natutuwa ako. Some of my fans, nakita ko sila sa isang mall show nung mismong birthday ko [last April]...
"I made sure na maiparamdam ko rin sa kanila na sobrang na-i-inspire ako sa kanila,” he said.
When asked what sets him apart from other male teen stars, Elmo maintained that he doesn’t really dwell on the competition.
He said he is focused on improving himself as an actor.
“Siguro, I really strive to become one of the most well-known actors in our country.
“Gusto ko lang talaga na gawin nang mabuti yung trabaho ko.
"Gusto ko lahat ng performance ko makikilala ako bilang yung character ko.”
In the afternoon soap, Villa Quintana, Elmo plays the role of Isagani, the long-lost son of Felix Quintana.
His character struggles from being the son of a wealthy man to suppressing his love for Lynette (played by Janine Gutierrez).
Villa Quintana, now on its 28th week, is expected to run until the third quarter of 2014.
Beaming, Elmo said, “Maraming viewers ang vocal na nanonood sila ng Villa Quintana.
“Kaya pag nakikita ko 'yon [sa social media], shine-share ko kina Direk [Gina Alajar] yung lahat ng good feedback.
“Kaya naman the whole cast and staff make sure that we give our best para mas humaba pa yung soap.”
