PRESS STATEMENT FROM Q CHANNEL 11:
"Anak-TV seal awardee Tropang Potchi—Q Channel 11's variety, talent, and game show all rolled into one—takes a more Pinoy approach to having fun as traditional Pinoy games take center stage this Saturday morning.
"In partnership with Magna Kultura Foundation, an advocate of traditional Filipino street games in the country, Tropang Potchi organized the "Palarong Potchi" last January 7 in Sto. Niño Elementary School in Marikina where hundreds of Grade 4 and 5 students participated in a series of games with their "Kapotchi" Julian Trono, Ella Cruz, Sabrina Man, Miggy Jimenez, Bianca Umali, and Lianne Valentino.
"'Tropang Potchi is all about learning while having fun. We believe that kids learn while they're playing—they learn about fairness, friendship, and how to interact with other people,' shared Ian Roxas, Tropang Potchi Program Manager.
"Our sponsor, Columbia, is keen on promoting traditional Pinoy games. So, we thought of organizing a game day with school kids. It would be the perfect opportunity to revive the kids' interest in these games, as well as provide an afternoon of fun to kids, with help from Magna Kultura.
"Four teams competed in a series of relay, group, and individual Pinoy games which included Piko, Kadang-Kadang, Karera ng Sako, Chinese Garter, Luksong Tinik, Luksong Baka, Patintero, Kick Ball, Trumpo, Luksong Lubid, and Sipang Bilangan. It was Team A who was named champion after bagging a total of 115 points.
"Catch 'Palarong Potchi' on Tropang Potchi this Saturday, January 15, 10:00 am, only on Q Channel 11!"
