Filipino rock band Pupil is Channel [V] Philippines' VIP (short for Very Important Pinoy) Artist of the Month for August 2009.
The
band composed of Ely Buendia as
frontman, Yan Yuzon on lead
guitar, Dok Sergio on bass and Wendell
Garcia on drums will be showcased by Channel [V] Philippines in a series of
features, interviews and performances throughout the month.
Pupil
recently celebrated its fourth anniversary as a band with the release of Wildlife: Special
Edition, a follow through of the band's highly successful second
album Wildlife which was released in
2007.
The
Wildlife album was eventually chosen
as the 2008 Album
of the Year at the NU Rock Awards where Pupil also received Artist of the Year, Producer of
the Year, Drummer of the year and Best in Music Video awards.
Since
the release of the band's second album, Pupil has enjoyed greater mainstream
success. The band has also played in other countries such as Singapore, Qatar,
and Dubai.
Pupil's
Wildlife: Special Edition album
includes hits like "Sala," "Monobloc," and "Teacher's Pet," as well as, their
latest single "Different Worlds." The special edition album also contains a
5-track acoustic set of the "Eye in the Big Sky" and 3 of
the album's original demo. The album is currently available in CDs under the Sony Music label.
