Startalk asserted anew its reputation as the country's longest running showbiz talk show last Saturday, October 24, in celebrating its 14th year anniversary at Studio 7 of the GMA Network Studios in Quezon City.
Last Saturday's presentation was billed under the theme "Xiete Xiete: Seven Xclusive Xplosive and Xtreme"—representing the show's special lineup in line with the momentous occasion. Spicing up the anniversary special were features on Carla Abellana, Katrina Halili, Mommy Dionisia and Jinkee Pacquiao, and Kris Aquino.
Live studio guests included Ynna Asistio, Jewel Mische, JC de Vera, Allan K and Miriam Quiambao. Lian Paz personally dropped by to talk about her fourth month of pregnancy with boyfriend Paolo Contis's child.
The entire Studio 7 buzzed with excitement the moment Filipino boxing sensation Manny Pacquiao, along with his entourage, entered the room to grace the occasion. At the time of his visit, Manny was about to board his scheduled flight to the United States to continue his extensive training for his upcoming ring bout with Puerto Rican warrior, Miguel Cotto.
Manny showed no sign of worry or fatigue as he gamely sang his own single "Lahing Pinoy" while accompanied by novelty composer and now good friend, Lito Camo, as well as a back-up band. After the number, Manny sat down with Startalk hosts Butch Francisco, Lolit Solis, Joey de Leon and Ricky Lo to update them about the progress of his preparations for the coming boxing match.
He obliged with another song number, joining ex-Britain's Got Talent Pinoy contestant, singer Madonna Decena, in performing the classic ballad, "Sometimes When We Touch."
Startalk's anniversary offering also unveiled the program's new segment where the four hosts will fearlessly pick out truth and lies in each showbiz story of the week. The new segment also allows Butch, Lolit, Ricky and Joey to state their personal point of view on relevant entertainment issues.
After 14 years of delivering showbiz news to
the public, the hosts of Startalk were one in saying that there's still a lot of
room for exciting innovations and changes. But as veteran entertainment
scribe Ricky Lo pointed out, the program's aim is just to continue giving
credible, accurate and substantial showbiz news every week to the viewing
public.
Startalk airs every Saturday on GMA-7 right after Eat Bulaga.
