Last January 12, the Araneta Coliseum was jampacked once again as the Megastar Sharon Cuneta celebrated her 44th birthday through a free concert. Dubbed Mega Birthday 2010, this event has always been a much-awaited occasion by Sharonians (fans of the Megastar) who are ever supportive of their idol.
The star-studded birthday celebration was attended not only by her close friends but, of course, by her family members as well. Audiences eagerly awaited the production number of KC Concepcion since in previous editions, she wowed audiences by flying across the Big Dome using a harness and showcased her balancing skills on a seesaw.
This time, KC donned a tight fitting all-black ensemble as she engaged Vhong Navarro in a dance showdown involving splits and various acrobatic maneuvers.
Even though her former husband and the father of KC, Gabby Concepcion, was not present during the concert, he had a special participation through a VTR. Just like other people close to the Megastar, Gabby did the dance steps for the upbeat song "I Got A Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas. Other celebrities included in the said video were Sarah Geronimo, Piolo Pascual, Lorna Tolentino and Yaya Luring, the trusted companion of Sharon who passed away recently.
The Megastar performed today's hottest hits such as Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" and the Pussycat Dolls' version of "Jai Ho." Sharon also had a lot of fun performing the Wonder Girls' popular song "Nobody" with Pops Fernandez, Cherie Gil, Rica Peralejo and Candy Pangilinan.
The presence of Sharon's former flames, Robin Padilla and Richard Gomez, elicited loud screams and squeals from the audience. Robin even presented the Megastar with flowers and jokingly told her, "Binata ako!" Sharon laughed gaily as she quipped, "Ako, hindi dalaga!" Robin took this opportunity to introduce to the public his youngest son Ali.
Other celebrities who were present that night were Judy Ann Santos with her husband Ryan Agoncillo, Gary Valenciano, Zsa-Zsa Padilla, Kuh Ledesma and Ai-Ai delas Alas. The Journey frontman Arnel Pineda also made it a point to sing a powerful duet with the Megastar.
With co-hosts Pokwang, Chokoleit and Randy Santiago, the TV coverage of Mega Birthday 2010 will be aired this Sunday, January 17, starting 9:30 p.m. Sharon airs right after Pinoy Big Brother Double Up on ABS-CBN.
