Rayver Cruz, Bangs Garcia and Sid Lucero will heat up weekday afternoons as they take on mature roles for ABS-CBN's newest teleserye titled Magkano ang Iyong Dangal.
Roxanne Guinoo was the first choice as the lead character of Magkano ang Iyong Dangal but then she eventually backed out. Raymond Dizon, the business unit head of Magkano ang Iyong Dangal, explained Roxanne's reasons for not accepting the project. "Due to personal reasons she decided not to continue taping for Dangal. Baka di niya raw magawa yung mga love scenes na ipapagawa sa kanya ni Direk Chito. So yun, it was really a personal decision, the decision that she made."
The team then decided to choose Bangs Garcia to replace the former Ligaw na Bulaklak lead actress in the show. Mr. Dizon pointed out, "Were really very happy rin naman that Bangs replaced her kasi parang mas-fresh...'yong artistang gaganap."
When asked for his reaction to Roxanne's decision to leave the show, Rayver expressed his sadness for missing out on the opportunity to work with her. "Na-excite ako kasi matagal ko na rin gusto makatrabaho si Rox. Noong nalaman kong hindi na nga, ayun medyo naghinayang."
But then he also felt excitement upon knowing that Bangs replaced the Kapamilya star. "Nakakatuwa kasi di siya mahirap katrabaho, comfortable naman kame sa kanya, happy naman."
Sid got a chance to work with Roxanne previously in their afternoon soap opera Ligaw na Bulaklak. " Na-excite ako kasi naka-trabaho ko siya before," said the actor who has been seen in various independent films. "Naisip ko its gonna be a lot easier to work with her. Noong nalaman kong di na siya magtutuloy, of course na-dismaya din."
He also gave his reaction to the addition of Bangs to the cast. "Mixed feelings, kasi I feel bad at the same time naging excited ako kasi may bago akong makaka-trabaho tapos nung nakilala ko siya napakadali pala siyang ka-trabaho."
As for Bangs herself, she clarified that she did not steal the role from Roxanne. "Talagang inaasahan ko pong mag-kakaroon ng issue this time about agawan ulit dahil nga originally sa kanya to, pero wala na po sa akin yun."
The former FHM cover girl also told the press that she also planned to decline the role when she got the offer to play the lead. "I wanted to back out because feeling ko nga rin hilaw ako for this kind of project so parang hindi ko alam kung kaya ko na ba talagang dalhin ang isang teleserye. Not because that it's originally for Rox. Hindi po yun ang reason why I wanted to back out."
Despite her hesitations, Bangs went on with the project and will now be seen every afternoon beginning this Monday, January 25. Watch ABS-CBN's newest teleserye, which is directed by Chito Roño.
