Another love team that almost stole the spotlight away from the hugely popular Melai Cantiveros-Jason Francisco tandem is the budding love triangle of Johan Santos-Cathy Remperas-Hermes Bautista.
Last Sunday, January 24, ex-Pinoy Big Brother Double Up housemates Cathy and Hermes appeared as guests on The Buzz to reveal if they are indeed falling for each other or not.
It will be recalled that in October 2009, fellow PBB housemate Johan Santos first opened up his heart to Cathy, the lass from Bohol. She brushed away Johan's sentiments, explaining that his feelings were merely a fleeting infatuation, having known each other for only three days.
Hermes, who initially kept a low profile by projecting a strong and mysterious demeanor, caught Cathy's eye. However, she decided to keep her feelings to herself after finding out he had a fling with visiting Housemate from Finland, Kattlin Laas. On the week that Cathy was eliminated, both boys were able to organize surprise dates with her. But through a strange twist of fate, Cathy was evicted out of the Big Brother House, followed by Hermes.
Now that both housemates are out in the real world, fans of the Cathy-Hermes duo—who call themselves the HerCath Followers—are eager to know if their romance will continue. Hermes was his usual mysterious self while Cathy appeared very relaxed during the interview and even punctuated her expressions with a boyish "Hanep!"
Ruffa Guttierez interviewed Cathy and Hermes at the same time on The Buzz and posed the question that has been on everyone's mind:
"Sinong mas matimbang sa puso mo mo si Hermes o si Johan?"
Cathy jokingly answered, "Si Hermes nag-lose ng weight kaya ngayon mas mabigat ang katawan ni Johan." The Charming Babe of Bohol then playfully tapped Hermes' waist.
To this, Boy Abunda urged Cathy to answer the question by saying, "Sa The Buzz diretsahan ang mga sagot."
Cathy then admitted that she has yet to find out who Hermes really is outside of the Big Brother house, "Iba kasi ang PBB house sa real world, so di ko pa alam."
Ruffa then proceeded to turn the tables on Hermes, revealing that she caught him and Cathy "naghaharutan" or horsing around backstage. She directly asked the Amboy hunk from Pampanga if he likes Cathy.
Hermes answered in a straightforward manner, "Opo, alam n'ya yun."
Boy Abunda then shifted the conversation to the Melason phenomenon, and asked them if they were aware of the popularity of the Melason love team while still inside the Big Brother House. Cathy divulged that they were aware to some extent because during the previous eviction and nomination nights, the housemates could hear the crowd chanting "Melason, Melason."
Lastly, Ruffa asked the two of them to choose who among the housemates they feel are most deserving of the title The Big Winner.
Cathy answered, "For me it's Jason, sobrang mahal ko yun, utol ko sya, tapos sobrang totoong tao, sensitive and loveable." For his part, Hermes said he would pick either Melai or Jason, before adding, "Kasi gustong gusto sila ng mga tao."
At this point, the Charming Babe ng Bohol and The Reluctant Amboy from Pampanga have yet to find out if they will end up as a couple. Since Johan is still inside the PBB house, we will have to wait and see if he will continue to fight for his love or if Hermes will charm his way into the heart of Cathy.
