Due to stiff competition among the three major TV networks, it becomes a big deal when celebrities switch networks in the course of their careers.
We’ve seen major, and controversial, big switch by celebrities in the past: Angel Locsin from GMA-7 to ABS-CBN (2007), Aga Muhlach from ABS-CBN to TV5 (2011), Sharon Cuneta from ABS-CBN to TV5 (2011), Derek Ramsay from ABS-CBN to TV5 (2012), to name a few.
Even Boy Abunda (from GMA-7 to ABS-CBN, 1999) and Kris Aquino (from GMA-7 to ABS-CBN, 1996) did major network switching!
Recently, we’ve again seen an exodus of stars from one network to another. Stars cite career challenge, better opportunities, and growth as some reasons for their transfer. Angel Locsin was once quoted as saying, “Naging ganap na aktres po ako dahil sa ABS-CBN.”
