This 2010, the government-created regulatory body has organized its first Film Awards that was held last June 25 at the theater of Crossroads 77 along Scout Reyes Street in Quezon City.
The nominees were selected among the movies released from January 1, 2009 to May 31, 2010. The winning entries are touted to have "redeeming social values and artistic excellence." The indie film Himpapawid, which tells the story of a desperate plane hijacker, bagged three of the nine trophies given away that night.
Mother Lily Monteverde of Regal Entertainment is the recipient of the 1st MTRCB Lifetime Achievement Award for Film.
The event was hosted by Startalk host Butch Francisco and former MTRCB vice chairman Jackie Aquino. Celebrities who attended the event were couples Richard Gomez and Lucy Torres as well as Cesar Montano and Sunshine Cruz. Lani Mercado and German Moreno were also present that night.
