Miss Philippines Venus Raj gives her all as she competes for the prestigious and coveted Miss Universe title this Tuesday (August 24) at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The 22-year old Bicolana recently rocked the National Costume show as she proudly modeled her black, white and yellow Filipiniana created by Colombian designer Alfredo Barraza.
In a report by Dyan Castillejo in TV Patrol, she observed that Venus was psyched and pumped up during the event because of the overwhelming support she received from Filipinos based in Las Vegas. Even Binibining Pilipinas Charities Chairman Stella Marquez Araneta gave her all out support to her despite the controversy they went through with regard to her citizenship.
"I think she did very well. I am getting comments from other countries and they said we have a terrific and strong candidate," said Araneta.
Venus also managed to deliver and impress the crowd during the previous Miss Universe pre-pageant activities such as the photo op in the famous "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign where the candidates wore their sexy bikinis; media tour in Los Angeles; and auction for the benefit of the Nevada Cancer Insititute where she auctioned an elegant pearl necklace and a pair of boxing gloves signed by Manny Pacquiao.
As early as now, Filipinos all over the world are hoping that Venus will be able to make it to the top 10 and take the throne from reigning Miss Universe Stefania Fernandez. Will she be the third Filipina to win Miss Universe?
For more updates, watch out for Dyan's reports aired in TV Patrol and Bandila on ABS-CBN and News Central on Studio 23.
