Pia Wurtzbach reveals that she and Marlon Stockinger never came close to breaking up when, early this year, news surfaced that her boyfriend fathered twins.
In her guest appearance on Tonight With Boy Abunda aired December 25, Christmas Day, Boy asked Pia what made her stay with the F1 racer amidst the controversy.
The 2015 Miss Universe answered, “I actually realized this for a while now. Marlon is first and foremost my best friend before he is my boyfriend.
“He knows me so well already.”
Pia said he was there for her when she was Miss Universe, especially when she passed on the crown.
It was an "emotional time" for her, she admitted, particularly when she transitioned to living back in the Philippines and returning to acting.
“He went through all of that.
"Of course, he had his challenges, I had mine.
"He was there, and then he just never gave up on me. He never left."
Asked if she and Marlon ever considered breaking up when the paternity issue broke out, “Parang hindi naman,” Pia replied.
“But I was strategic with our relationship, in a way, where pagka mayroong issue, sasabihin ko sa kanya.
"'Heto gagawin natin, ah, magle-lay low muna tayo. Hindi muna tayo magpu-post.
"Hindi ibig sabihin, break tayo.’
“Iisipin ng mga tao, nag-break kami, pero di kami break.
"We’re just taking a break from all the eyes and the ears."
Last March 30, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) published a report that Marlon had fathered twins with his former partner, model Kit Barraquias, who confirmed the report.
Weeks before the PEP news came out, Pia appeared surprised when she was asked about Marlon having kids.
Apparently, she knew nothing about it, and many wondered what Pia would do next.
A week after the issue came out, she posted photos showing them celebrating Marlon's 26th birthday, which confirmed they were still very much together.
