The Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) will honor young stars and veteran artists for the 58th edition of the FAMAS Awards.
This year's Gabi ng Parangal of the FAMAS is scheduled to take place on December 13 at6:00 p.m.
According to organizing committee, the awards night was moved to December due to major repairs and electrical re-wirings needed at the Teatro GSIS, which was damaged by constant rain and floods. It was originally scheduled for November 19.
The 58th FAMAS Awards Night is mounted in cooperation with Rotary Club of Metro Cubao, led by its president Angelo "Eloy" Padua.
This year's special awards will be given to the following:
Presidential Awardee - Herbert Bautista
Lifetime Achievement Award - Rustica Carpio
Lou Salvador Sr., Memorial Award - Lou Veloso
Fernando Poe, Jr. Memorial Award - Ronnie Ricketts
Dr. Jose Perez, Jr. Memorial Award - Dennis Aguilar
Flavio Macaso Award - Ninoy Sofranes
Golden Artist Award - Sharon Cuneta
German Moreno Achievement - Andi Eigenmann, Matteo Guidicelli, Erich Gonzales, Enchong Dee, Joshua Dionisio, Barbie Forteza, Jake Vargas, and Bea Benene
Special Citation Award as an Artist for Film - Celso Ad. Castillo
Arturo M. Padua Memorial Award - German Moreno
Hall of Fame - Albert Michael Idioma
Prestige Award of Distinction - Prof. Domingo G. Landicho, Ph.D.
Exemplary Achievement Award - Dolphy
DISCREPANCY. On October 28, a list of this year's nominees was published in a national broadsheet. However, this list contained names that were not included in the final list provided to PEP (Philppine Entertanment Portal) by the FAMAS Secretariat last November 5.
Vir N. Mateo, FAMAS Chairman of Review and Special Awards, explained the discrepancy between the two lists.
Via email sent to PEP, he explained: "The result of the initial tabulation was sent by our assistant. October 24 was our first tabulation.
"The final deliberation was done - Oct 30, from top 7, we trimmed it down to the top 5."
