Sa pamamagitan ng Twitter, ibinahagi ng beauty queen-turned-actress ang pamba-bash ng isang netizen sa kanya at ang sagot niya rito.
Tweet ni Mariel noong Biyernes, November 9: "Bashers. Kill them… With kindness. Because hurt people hurt people. There is poison in their hearts. Help them heal."
Kalakip ng tweet ng anak nina Christopher de Leon at Sandy Andolong ang screenshot ng pamba-bash ng netizen at ang ipinadala niyang private message sa basher.
Komento ng basher, “Oo buti nasabi ni Madam yan, reminding me of the past 2017 Miss Int’l character @marieldeleonofficial [laughing emoji].. may sinasabi ba naman kay [cat emoji] dati na makuda daw si muning – ayan kc bitter—loser kasi sya!”
“Muning” ang tawag ng ibang pageant fans kay Miss Universe Philippines 2018 Catriona Gray.
Mensahe ni Mariel: “Our pasts don’t define us. What we can do as humans is learn and grow to be better. Thank you.
"Even if you don’t know me and you say foul and bitter things about me, I’ll still say God bless you.
"Hopefully you actually follow the path of Christ seeing as you posted a bible quote on your bio. Again, God bless."
Kinabukasan, November 10, may kasunod pang tweet si Mariel na patama sa bashers.
Pahayag ng Bb. Pilipinas-International 2017, "May pa bible quote sa bio pero nagbabash sa social media… Okay lang kayo? Do you need prayers? I’ll pray for you all! No problem!”
Bago ang grand coronation ng Binibining Pilipinas 2018, nagbigay ng komento si Mariel, na parang “scripted” daw sumagot si Catriona.
Hindi ito nagustuhan ng fans at binatikos si Mariel.
Depensa naman ni Mariel, constructive criticism ang ginawa niya kay Catriona.
Naging tampulan din ng pamba-bash si Mariel dahil sa hindi niya pagpasok sa Top 15 noong lumaban siya sa Miss International 2017.
