GMA Network aims to strengthen its Saturday afternoon and primetime block by unveiling its new programming schedule that will begin this Saturday, November 20.
As a result of this change in lineup, the TV shows Kaya ng Powers and Jejemom will no longer be seen on the Kapuso Network. Kaya ng Powers premiered on GMA-7 last July 24, 2010.
This fantasy/sitcom stars Rhian Ramos, Sheena Halili, Elmo Magalona, Joey Marquez and Rufa Mae Quinto. Meanwhile, Jejemom, which is topbilled by Eugene Domingo and Wendell Ramos, aired its pilot episode on August 14, 2010. The shows aired their final episodes last Saturday, November 13.
The new lineup of GMA-7 begins with Startalk TX, which airs at 2:40 PM. Hosted by Lolit Solis, Butch Francisco, Joey de Leon and Ricky Lo, Startalk TX is the longest-running showbiz-oriented talk show in the country.
This Saturday, Wish Ko Lang, hosted by Vicky Morales, brings new hope to a college student who works as a "magbobote," or someone who buys and sells recyclable materials like used bottles and old newspapers to pay for his tuition. The episode will also focus on the plight of a child who urgently needs brain surgery.
Jundre "Ricky" Gallardo has left Cebu to find what he hopes would be a better life in Manila. To pay for his tuition, he goes house to house, buying and selling recyclable materials. Ricky dreams of becoming the first one in his family to receive a college diploma.
Magda, on the other hand, has a congenital condition that requires brain surgery. Her parents have taken her to several specialists who have said that she has very little chance for survival. Could there still be hope for little Magda?
The Kapuso Movie Festival will follow with the Philippine television premiere of the 2009 remake of Carlo J. Caparas' Ang Panday starring Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr.
Directed by Mac Alejandre and produced by GMA Films and Imus Productions, Ang Panday chronicles the exploits of Flavio, the original Panday, and his quest to end Lizardo's evil reign on earth. Aside from being the most awarded film in last year's Metro Manila Film Festival, it was also proclaimed as the top grosser among the seven entries in the competition.
24 Oras Weekend, anchored by Jiggy Manicad and Pia Arcangel, delivers the biggest news of the day. Backed by a news team that has won both local and international honors, 24 Oras Weekend airs every Saturday after Wish Ko Lang and on Sundays, after Showbiz Central.
For this weekend, Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, will feature a basketball match between midgets and gay men, a bracelet that purportedly gives strength and endurance particularly for athletes, and smelly food that—apparently—tastes good.
It will also tackle the Harry Potter mania and will suggest some great places to visit this coming holiday season. This afternoon show is celebrating its 6th anniversary this year.
Just recently, the program won Best Magazine Program and its host, Jessica Soho, was awarded Best Magazine Program Host at the Star Awards for TV. Beginning this Saturday, Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho airs right after 24 Oras Weekend.
Imbestigador, hosted by broadcast journalist Mike Enriquez, goes after big-time drug dealers. With the help of the National Bureau of Investigation and several "assets," the investigative program was able to participate in a buy-bust operation involving P15 million worth of cocaine.
The follow-up operation led to the arrest of the supplier of drug dealers busted earlier. According to the NBI, the investigation could lead to the arrest of even more powerful people. Imbestigador airs every Saturday after Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho.
To lighten up the evening, the duo of Allan K and Eugene Domingo exchange witty banter and comic antics in Comedy Bar.Brazilian-Japanese hunk Fabio Ide joins the fun while the "Beergins" and Six-Feet Long Band showcase live comedy, funny segments and song numbers.
