Ito ang naka-post sa memorial fundraiser para kay Pepe Smith na isinulat ni Erwin Romulo:
“Joey Pepe Smith always gave everything he had for us, his fans. Many of us would appreciate any chance to give back to him. In his music, he held nothing back, whether it was in recordings or in performance.
“A musician, composer, and artist, he was a member of many bands including Eddie Reyes and the Downbeats, Speed, Glue, and Shinki, and of course Juan dela Cruz. He was also the co-author of many classic Pinoy rock anthems such as 'Beep Beep', 'Balong Malalim', and 'Himig Natin.'
“A legend in his lifetime, he served as a mentor to the next generations of musicians and groups that followed him. His life in music spans many eras and his songs are chronicles of our country’s history.
"His work has certainly enriched our culture and made a difference in the lives of many Filipinos.
"If anything, Pepe Smith’s legacy is one of generosity.
"Now that he has left us, let’s give the Pinoy Rock icon the farewell he deserves, that allows his loved ones and fans to fittingly celebrate a remarkable life.
"Pepe Smith was a wealthy man but that had nothing to do with money. Like many can attest he was generous, perhaps to a fault.
"He always gave everything he had. He now needs our generosity.
"'Handa na ba kayong lahat/Upang s'ya'y tulungan?' — Joey Pepe Smith (1947-2019) 'Himig Natin'"
