Ordinary objects become musical resources in STOMP, which will be restaged in Manila this June

STOMP will be restaged at the Cultural Center of the Philippines from June 17 to 22, 2014.

STOMP is still the unbeatable, unstoppable riveting romp that your reflexes will surely fail to resist.

Celebrating twenty-three years of breathtakingly brilliant runs on Broadway and twelve equally remarkable blockbuster years at the West End, the resounding global phenomenon STOMP, returns to the Philippines--three years after its first spectacular sold-out season during its Manila staging in 2011.

By breaking theatrical conventions of music and lyrics through its high-adrenaline show drawing “pure stage magic” from ingenious combinations of slick movement and pulsating rhythms, STOMP is guaranteed to awaken, arouse, and inspire the creative rebel in everyone.

This 2014, its kinetically-charged repertoire returns with an even louder and bigger bang to the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Main Theater for a limited run of eight performances from June 17 to 22.

Wordless but visually wildly witty, STOMP’s polished theatrical thrills continue to draw in audiences of all ages and backgrounds with its fluidly evolving repertoire.

With its return to Manila this year, STOMP (also currently playing in the UK, US, throughout Europe and South America) further pushes the boundaries of rhythm by incorporating new and electrifying numbers to its hip and urban array of spectacular movement and high octane beats. The two new routines introduced in 2013, “Frogs” and “Trolleys”, explores the titillating and bizarre possibilities of creating mind-blowing rhythm and sound from a variety of plumbing fixtures and a fully-laden supermarket trolley, turning them into sophisticated musical instruments, respectively.

“We are really excited about coming back to Manila,” says STOMP’s Co-Creator/Director Steve McNicholas. “If you’ve never seen STOMP you should come and see what all the noise is about, and if you have, come again and see what’s new.”

Mesmerizing over 15 million people in 53 countries across five continents, STOMP is the ultimate redefinition of “Surround Sound”--from its trademark industrial percussions: brooms to garbage can lids and paint canisters; and newspapers to portable kitchen sinks, this multi-awarded show magically breathes life into the everyday mundane object and routine, transforming them into the motherload of pulsating beats and crescendos.

With its universal language of rhythm hammered out by eight irrepressible performers in a deceptively gritty, precise dance of carefully engineered chaos, STOMP’s relentless appeal is made even more exhilarating (and even sensual) with its generous layers of sinfully delicious bouts of side-splitting physical comedy. Even professional musicians, highly-skilled percussionists, musical hobbyists, and seasoned musical theater-lovers are sure to find the heart-pounding architecture of the “STOMP experience”, a veritable reminder of how feel-good, vigorous rhythms coupled with adrenaline-pumping choreography can cross boundaries of musical and theatrical preferences.

Producer James Cundall, CEO of Lunchbox Theatrical Productions shares, “STOMP has little or no melody in the traditional sense, so it doesn’t matter if your taste in music is jazz, classical, dance or pop. The show has no words either, so it really is a show for everyone.”

The high-octane audio and visual spectacle of STOMP is sure to challenge and inspire even die-hard dance and fitness fanatics with the raw stamina of each routine and the physical endurance required to master its tight ensemble work. For those who are prone to living a sedentary life (bookworms and tech-savvy students of all levels whose noses are almost glued to the screens of their gadgets) STOMP is a show that is definitely set to get you moving, and perhaps even inspire you to find your own rhythm and dance to your own beat--even as you go through menial and simple tasks such as navigating a shopping cart in a busy grocery aisle; or, lugging heavy furniture around in your bedroom.

And, as the drone of everyday living lures practically almost everybody to overlook the ordinary, STOMP’s call towards discovering the possibilities for creativity in discovering the potential for extraordinary sound and rhythm even in humdrum objects (such as a simple newspaper or a boring deck of cards) is sure to captivate and fire up the imaginations of bored minds on the brink of innovation.

STOMP has something spectacular for everyone: if you can drumroll with your fingers on your office desk; bob your head along to an infectious beat while doing the laundry; or clap your hands on your thighs to any rhythm and beat you hear on a leisurely commute through the traffic of the metro, then STOMP is one show that you definitely should not miss

Come and see what all the noise is about! STOMP will be playing for a limited season only at the CCP Main Theater.
