Alice Dixson has no problem portraying a mother role in Studio5 Original’s made-for-TV movie, More Than Words.
During a press visit on the last taping day of the telemovie, the 44-year-old actress says what is important is to deliver what is required of her character.
“Walang problema yun. Dati na akong gumagawa ng mother roles.
“Pinatanda naman nila ako for this project,” said Alice, who clearly doesn’t mind accepting deglamorized roles.
In the story, Alice plays Sabel, an ex-convict who’s suffering from neurogenic speech defect.
“Medyo mahirap gawin. I tried to make it believable as much possible kasi character-driven yung story.
“May mga pinanood akong video about people who stutter.
“With Direk's [director Jon Red] guidance din, he tells me if I need to do it differently. Open yung working relationship namin.”
Alice reveals that she also had fun taping with co-star Sarah Lahbati, who plays a kind-hearted teacher in the telemovie.
“Sarah's a pleasure to work with. She just started [in showbiz but] I think she's a very good actress.
“We have a lot in common. We’re both into sports. She’s a very smart girl and a good conversationalist as well.”
Sarah, who was also present during that taping day, is equally happy about getting this chance to work with Alice.
The 20-year-old actress adds that Alice has been very helpful in motivating her during their dramatic scenes together.
“On the second day, ang dami naming heavy scenes together. Dun kami mas nagkakilala.
“Ang daming nagsasabi sa akin na sobrang galing niya pero nung second day ko lang na-witnes na yes, she’s really good.
“Grabe siya umarte, she’s professional, nakaka-inspire na katrabaho siya kasi nae-engganyo ka na gumaling lalo.”
Don’t miss TV5’s Mother’s Day offering, More Than Words, airing on May 11.
