“Wow! Three movies in a year? It's really fast!”
This was Nadine Lustre's initial reaction when she first learned about her newest movie project, Para Sa Hopeless Romantic, together with perennial leading man James Reid.
Based on the romantic-comedy novel written by Marcelo Santos III, it tells the story of five different characters' brush with love and how they coped with its complexities.
In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), the 21-year-old actress shared that she and James really felt privileged with all the opportunities that Viva Entertainment is throwing their way.
“Skeptical kami nung una kasi parang dalawang movies na. Tapos after ng Wansapanataym may movie agad.
“We thought na serye muna. Tapos na-confirm sa amin na movie [ang gagawin]. Parang medyo nabigla kami,” she stated.
Coupled with their onscreen chemistry and mass appeal, the success of James and Nadine's loveteam (a.k.a JaDine) has just begun and will continue to make waves in showbiz from the looks of it.
“I feel good kasi sa Diary Ng Panget (DNP) medyo experimental pa yun [loveteam].
“Hindi namin in-expect na ganito ang impact namin ni James sa mga tao. I just feel thankful kasi siya yung naka-partner ko,” she beamed.
Nadine is also confident about meeting the public's expectation for them to deliver something fresh for their movie teamup.
“We keep improving naman din. Like for me, I improved a lot lalo na after ng Talk Back and You're Dead and then nag-Wansa[panataym kami]. Marami rin yung natutunan ko.”
Asked if she's ready to be more daring in Para Sa Hopeless Romantic, the Viva Entertainment talent maintained that she's ok with kissing scenes like what she did for her two earlier films.
But Viva's big boss, Vic Del Rosario, would rather that she stick to wholesome roles.
“Ready ako, pero parang si Boss Vic 'di ata ready. Gusto niya wholesome lang talaga.
“Well, yeah, may kissing scenes sa DNP and Talk Back and You're Dead.
“I'm not sure kung dito merong kissing scenes. But still, gusto niya [Boss Vic] pasok sa teens pa rin.”
Asked if a full-lenth teleserye is also in the works for her and James in ABS-CBN (where they are exclusive talents), Nadine simply replied, “Wala pa pong sinasabi sa amin for now.”
Given a chance, Nadine said she'd like to do an action series for a change.
“Kung puwede, gusto ko action. Pero bihira kasi ang action sa teleserye.
“Medyo mabigat ang drama for me. Pero kung yun ang ibibigay, why not? Challenge din yun.”
Nadine said that she's currently busy doing various endorsements and magazine shoots to the point that she hardly has time to take a good rest.
Nevertheless, one won't hear any complaints from the young actress.
“But it's okay. Mas gusto naman yung sunod-sunod ang trabaho mo kaysa wala. 'Tsaka feeling ko naman workaholic ako kaya hindi ako napapagod," Nadine cheerfully added.
