Ang Panday 2 was able to win Best Visual Effects during the Gabi ng Parangal of the 37th Metro Manila Film Festival. The said movie also bagged the prize for Best Float for its design involving a huge dragon.
Ang Panday 2 lead star Senator Bong Revilla Jr. expressed his gratitude for the success of his film: "Ako ay nagpapasalamat sa mga nanood ng ipinagmamalaki naming pelikula na talagang pinaghirapan at pinaglaanan ng panahon. Nakakataba ng puso na nakapagpasaya kami ng mga tao at nakapagbigay ng ngiti sa mga bata."
Instead of celebrating and spending time to promote the movie, Senator Bong went back to Cagayan de Oro and Iligan last December 29, 2011 to share his blessings to the victims of Typhoon Sendong. He also encourages every Filipino to pray and take part in helping the typhoon victims recover from the painful tragedy they've encountered.
During the first day of the festival, Ang Panday 2 reportedly hit P29 million total tickets sales. This is based on a report furnished by the corporate communications department of GMA.
This fantasy-adventure film stars Senator Bong Revilla Jr., Marian Rivera, Iza Calzado, Eddie Garcia, Phillip Salvador, Alice Dixson, Lucy Torres, and Lorna Tolentino, among others.
Ang Panday 2, an official entry of GMA Films and Imus Productions to the 37th Metro Manila Film Festival, is still showing in more than 100 theaters nationwide.
