Derek Ramsay has been chosen to star in an independent film based on the life of racing champ Enzo Pastor.
The Filipino race car driver was shot to death in June 2014. Enzo was driving a truck to Clark, Pampanga, in preparation for the 2014 Asian V8 Championship Series season when he was ambushed by motorcycle-riding gunmen.
In an article published by TopGear Philippines, independent filmmaker Anna Bautista Lontoc revealed that they will produce the movie about Enzo, the first Filipino race car driver to be invited to the Euro NASCAR circuit.
There is currently an investigation ongoing to determine those responsible for the death of Enzo.
For this reason, the film outfit ABL Company will avoid using the actual names of the persons involved. In fact, TopGear reports that Derek's character will be named Paco De Villa.
The wife of Enzo, Dalia Guerrero, is considered a suspect in the crime since she allegedly connived with Domingo "Sandy" de Guzman to kill the international race car champ.
Enzo is believed to be a victim of a love triangle involving him and alleged lovers Dalia and Sandy.
Jodi Sta. Maria has been chosen to play the character based on Enzo’s wife Dalia Guerrero while Zanjoe Marudo is eyed to play the alleged mastermind (Sandy de Guzman).
A member of the Pastor family has confirmed to TopGear that there are plans to do a biopic about Enzo with Derek and Jodi as the lead stars.
However, the TopGear source indicated that they believed another actor was being considered to play the businessman allegedly having an illicit affair with Enzo's wife.
"We thought the character based on Sandy would be played by Dennis Trillo."
The unnamed Pastor family member was also quoted as saying:
"Our lawyers will review the script.
"We specifically told the director that we want Enzo's life to be honored -- that when his children watch the movie one day, they will feel proud of their father.”
The movie, tentatively titled Crime of Passion, will reportedly start shooting this July – a year and a month after the tragic incident.
