Atlantis Productions will be restaging Avenue Q, the hit Broadway musical starring humans and puppets this December at the RCBC Plaza, Makati City. Top singers Rachel Alejandro, Frenchie Dy, and Aiza Seguerra implore everyone to "Give Ruv on Christmas Day."
Avenue Q, which won three Tony Awards, including Best Musical, will be staged from December 14 to 23 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati City. Actress-singer Aiza Seguerra plays Gary Coleman, pop singer Rachel Alejandro plays the dual role of Kate Monster and Lucy The Slut, while Star in a Million champion Frenchie Dy portrays Christmas Eve.
Avenue Q is the story of Princeton, played by Felix Rivera, a 24-year-old college student of University of Asia and the Pacific. The bright-eyed college grad comes to New York City with his big dreams and a tiny bank account. He soon discovers that the only neighborhood in his price range is Avenue Q.
The neighbors seem nice. There's Brian played by Rycharde Everley, the out-of-work comedian and his therapist fianceé Christmas Eve played by the singer Frenchie Dy; Nicky (Joel Trinidad), the good-hearted slacker and his roommate Rod, played also by Felix Rivera—a Republican investment banker who seems to have some sort of secret; an Internet addict called Trekkie Monster; and a very cute kindergarten teaching assistant named Kate (Rachel Alejandro).
And would you believe the building's superintendent is Gary Coleman? The role of the actor will be portrayed by Ysabella supporting star Aiza Seguerra. Together, Princeton and his newfound friends struggle to find jobs, dates, and their ever-elusive purpose in life.
People and puppets alike deal with the realities of life—finding a job (or losing it), dealing with racism, living on one's own, getting kicked out of an apartment, falling in love, and encountering people with commitment issues. Parental discretion is advised due to mature themes (like excessive drinking and Internet porn).
