Anuman ang nangyari sa nakaraan ni Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi, wala raw siyang ikinahihiya.
Sa kanyang YouTube vlog noong July 15, 2022, nabanggit ng 24-year-old beauty queen na dati siyang nagtrabaho bilang isang cashier, pero hindi niya nasabi kung sa Pilipinas ito o sa Italy.
Nagsimula ang kuwento ni Celeste tungkol sa parteng ito ng kanyang buhay nang may mga fans na nagtanong tungkol sa kanyang college degree.
Ani Celeste, tumigil siya sa pag-aaral. Hindi raw kasi niya alam noon ang kukuning kurso.
“Why would I go to college if I don’t know what I wanna be when I’m an adult?”
Kinailangan din niyang magtrabaho agad para tulungan sa gastusin ang kanyang ina na isang Pilipina.
“So I really had to find a job. So that time, I was doing modelling, and I also worked as a cashier in a shop.”
BEING TRUE TO HERSELF
Kasama sa vlog si Voltaire Tayag, ang director of communications ng Miss Universe Philippines, na nagkomento ng, “You were just so open with it, and you were like, ‘That’s where I worked before.'"
Sabi ni Celeste, “It was just downstairs, actually, where we lived and it was the shop where I worked as a cashier.”
Pero aminado si Celeste na dati ay nahihiya siyang sabihin na nagtrabaho siya bilang cashier.
Sabi niya, “You know, actually, there was a time where I was kinda embarrassed. I didn’t really wanna show that side of me to others.”
Nagbago ang pananaw niya matapos siyang maging titleholder.
Nararapat lamang daw na magpakatotoo siya para maging mabuting ehemplo sa iba.
“To show people the real me, so they can just relate to me.
“And it’s really important because you should never deny your past.
“You should never be shy of what you’ve been through, because it’s what made you, who you are right now.
“So, I’m proud of it, and I really wanted to show them where I came from.”
Sa kabilang banda, ipinagpapatuloy na ngayon ng Filipina-Italian model ang kanyang pag-aaral sa kolehiyo.
“I’m doing real-estate course to get my real estate license. It’s like so perfect because, again, I will never do something if I’m not very passionate about it.”
