Maris Racal opens up about her insecurities and how she got over them

Just like many girls her age, reality show star-turned-actress Maris Racal harbored insecurities behind the camera.

It’s a fact that she revealed in a series of tweets posted on Twitter on Monday, February 8.

Maris, who broke through local showbiz in 2014 after a successful run with a popular local reality show, opened up about having to “hide” her insecurities and “keep up with all the pretty girls around me” by making sure she looked her best all the time.

On a quest to improve herself, Maris likewise went to the one person she trusts for some tried-and-tested beauty advice: her mom.

As she grew older and wiser, Maris started to confront her perceptions about herself. She realized that loving and accepting oneself, flaws and all, is the key to being beautiful inside and out.

Part of her tweet read, “Looking back, naisip ko bakit kaya ako ganun? Simply because I was young and insecure. Now that I’m more mature, I’ve learned to love my own beauty, my own skin.”

Maris also reminded girls who may be feeling the same way that “self-love is the best love.”
