Sunshine Dizon has decided to slow down in doing acting projects.
In fact, she has already said no to five teleserye offers.
According to Sunshine, it was her choice to take her time because she had not stopped working since she returned to acting in 2013.
Before taking a break in 2009 to focus on her two pregnancies and family life, Sunshine started her showbiz career when she was three years old.
During her PEP Live interview with the original Encantadia Sang’gres on Monday, July 25, 2022, Sunshine related, “There have been offers naman.
“[It’s] a choice for me to sort of like take my time and enjoy life with my family and friends and do things that matter to me din.”
At present, Sunshine wants to focus on doing something else in the showbiz industry.
“I’m also leaning towards more of, hopefully, doing more production work. Yun yung akin ngayon, ha.”
Sunshine formerly expressed her interest in becoming a director during her PEP Live episode in 2020.
She got her first directorial job via WeTV's B&B: The Story of the Battle of Brody and Brandy with Iza Calzado and Ian Veneracion. It is line-produced by Sang'gre Productions, her production company with Sang'gre sisters Iza, Karylle, and Diana Zubiri.
DECLINING FIVE TELESERYE OFFERS
Without mentioning a TV station, Sunshine addressed the assumptions and speculations about her career moves.
It can be recalled that in 2021, Sunshine’s contract was not renewed by GMA-7, and as a freelance actress, she decided to accept two projects from ABS-CBN.

Sunshine said, “I will not deny na kasi... hindi na lang ako magbabanggit kung anong istasyon, anong whatever.
“But ang sakit din kasi parang minsan pakinggan na parang nag-iiba yung version because some people are assuming things na hindi naman talaga nila alam kung ano yung totoong mga nangyari behind the decision of whatever decision I made.
“But, you know, to be honest, there have been five dramas already that I turned down, and I just recently was told by my manager that there is—I’m not sure if it‘s a movie or an indie film na bagong offer.”
Sunshine would prefer to do films over TV shows primarily because of the taping schemes.
“Yung movie side, I’m leaning towards that now kasi kapag gumawa ka ng pelikula now, ilang araw lang, e.
“When you do series kasi, parang lock-in pa rin and nandun ako sa point ngayon na parang hindi ko kaya ulit na tatlong buwan akong mawawala, dalawang buwan akong mawawala.”
TIME FOR A BREAK
Ultimately, Sunshine said that she and her Sang’gre sisters also deserve the break, and to venture into other things, having been in the business for several years now.
She continued, “I’m also trying to learn other stuff—meaning—getting to other kinds of businesses.
“So, nandoon ako sa point na yun ngayon at saka, sabi mo nga, deserve din namin siguro lahat dahil taon na naman yung mga isinakripisyo namin.
“Kung meron kaming bagong linya na tahakin siguro ngayon, baka naman panahon din lang.”
But it doesn’t mean that Sunshine is turning her back on showbiz.
She explained, “Pero hindi ibig sabihin noon na tumatalikod ako or like parang si Joy, si Joy, nagkataong nasa Australia lang ngayon, pero I’m sure if there is some good project that will come along that she cannot say no to, uuwi iyan for sure, di ba?”
Diana Zubiri, who's nickname is Joy, is now based in Australia with her two kids and husband Andy Smith.
Sunshine continues, “The same way that if there is also a project that comes along my way that I feel like would be something worth my time, and kumbaga, kapag binasa ko na masasabi ko na, ‘Ay, pang-akin talaga ito, hindi ko ito palalampasin,’ na [hindi ko nakikitang] pwedeng gawin kunyari ni Iza o ni Karylle.
“Innate na iyan sa amin, nasa dugo na namin ang passion at pagiging artista namin. It’s just that pana-panahon din.”
Sunshine admitted that her decision to slow down has also something to do with the pandemic.
She expounded, “Siguro nga na-trauma rin tayo after the pandemic na gusto rin nating ma-enjoy na kasama mo yung pamilya mo, kasama mo yung mga kaibigan, mo mga nagmamahal sa iyo.
“At ako, ang realization ko din is I just turned 39, I’ve devoted almost more than half of my life to this business.
“The only time that I took a break was when I got married, I had my children, that was like four years lang.
“But most of my life, I’ve been working and itong taon na ito, parang na-realize kong marami pa pala akong gustong gawin.
“Ayokong gumising isang araw na sasabihin kong masyado na akong maraming nararamdaman o pagod na ako, hindi ko na nagawa yung mga gustong gawin.”
