Stars of the No. 1 highest-grossing Thai film, Bad Genius, are expected to arrive in the Philippines for the Manila premiere of the comedy film.
Thai actress Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying is cast in this film as Lynn, a straight-A student who devises an exam-cheating scheme that eventually rises to international levels.
Bad Genius is considered as a top-grossing Asian film in Cambodia, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.
The thriller is based on real-life news of school cheating, and features themes of class inequality and teen social issues.
It was the opening film of the 16th New York Asian Film Festival where it won the Best Feature award. Lead actress Chutimon received the Screen International Rising Star Asia award at the New York Asian Film Fest. Bad Genius is the first Southeast Asian film chosen to open the event.
Bad Genius will open in Philippine cinemas starting October 18, 2017. It will also be shown in China (October 13), Korea (October 19), Australia (October 26), and Japan this October. Other countries also include Laos, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Brunei.
