The Good Son, mali nga ba ang interpretasyon sa dyslexia?

Dec 5, 2017

NOEL FERRER: Nagulat ako nang makita sa FB ang post ng director for entertainment and operations ng Solaire na si Shax Siasoco na naglalaman ng ganito"

"Kapatid, got this on FB. Is this The Good Son? - So this ABS CBN telenovela had this scene that was talking about dyslexia. The character said it is a learning disability that affects how one hears the sound of words.

"I am so sorry for the language but since I have a son who has been diagnosed with dyslexia since he was 5 ( he is 22 now) all I can say is... Putang...... nyo mag google man lang kayo o kumuha ng consultant na alam ang tamang definition nyan."

A few minutes bago na-post 'yan, na-surf ko sa TV ang eksena ni John Estrada sa The Good Son na dumako sa eksena ni McCoy na meron nga raw dyslexia.

Ipinaalam ko kay Shax kung puwedeng ipaabot ito sa aking mga kaibigan sa production na in-charge sa naturang programa.

"Sure (you can call their attention). I just overheard it on TV while my wife was in dialysis. It was about 10 minutes ago.

"It just irritates me that sometimes they don’t realize the influence they have and their responsibility to get their facts straight,” ang sabi sa akin ni Shax, na butihing asawa ng premyadong theater actress na si Len Ag Santos.

JERRY OLEA: Mula sa Wikipedia, “Dyslexia, also known as reading disorder, is characterized by trouble with reading despite normal intelligence.

“Different people are affected to varying degrees. Problems may include difficulties in spelling words, reading quickly, writing words, ‘sounding out’ words in the head, pronouncing words when reading aloud and understanding what one reads.

“Often these difficulties are first noticed at school. When someone who previously could read loses their ability, it is known as alexia.

“The difficulties are involuntary and people with this disorder have a normal desire to learn.”

Mahaba pa ang mga paliwanag sa Wikipedia kaugnay rito.

NOEL FERRER: Nagpakita ang business unit head ng The Good Son na si Erick Salud ng research na pinabasehan nila ng mismong dialogue sa teleserye.

Sumagot naman si Shax ng ganito, “Ang mali kasi is there are so many websites with differing definitions and if you don't have someone to interpret for you, magkakamali ka talaga.

"One is that recent developments have stated that hindi siya learning disability but a reading disability, so intelligence is not affected.

"So by using learning disability, you give an impression that may mental problem yung bata.

"As to the sounds, the main problem is the brain does not recognize certain letters or symbols, hence, they cannot connect the sound that is associated with it.”

“My son was diagnosed in the Ateneo. The reading material and books I have is similar to the following screencaps.”

NOEL FERRER: Bilang pagtatapos, sinabi na lang ni Shax, “Sorry Noel for the rant. It’s an emotional thing for my family because of the ordeal it has brought to my son.”

Ang maganda naman ay nagsabi ang BUH ng The Good Son na si Direk Erick na, “We will rectify na lang in our upcoming episode, and sorry for the wrong term used in translating from the research.”
