Binabatikos at tinatawag na "tuta ng China" ang ABS-CBN Corporation dahil nakipagkasundo ito sa Horizon of the Sun Communications, isang Filipino-Chinese media company, na ipalabas sa ANC ang Chinatown News TV, ang nightly Mandarin Chinese weekday news program.
Ito ay sa gitna ng isyu tungkol sa West Philippine Sea at iba pang mga isyu na may kinalaman ang bansang China.
Si Lolita Ching at ang kanyang anak na si Louella Ching-Chan ang mga namumuno sa Horizon of the Sun Communications.
Sila rin ang nasa likod ng Chinatown TV, ang producer ng Mr. and Miss Chinatown pageant, ang Manny Pacquiao TV-movie documentary na Para Sa Iyo Ang Laban Na Ito, at ang defunct noontime variety show na Chowtime Na na dating napapanood sa IBC-13.
Ang mga batikos laban sa ABS-CBN dahil sa desisyon nitong ipalabas ang Chinatown News TV sa ANC, simula noong April 12, ang dahilan kaya nagpaliwanag si ABS-CBN News chief Ging Reyes sa pamamagitan ng isang tweet.
Pahayag niya, “I understand the concerns on Chinese incursions in the West Ph sea & many other issues related to the country’s relations with China.
"ABS-CBN News has vigorously covered these issues, in our pursuit of truth and public enlightenment. But we resist discrimination against any race or ethnicity.
"The airing on ANC of Chinatown News should not be equated with the intrusions in the West Ph Sea.
"Chinatown News is produced by fellow Filipinos who belong to the Filipino-Chinese community. They are part of Philippine society.
"Rather than belittle their attempt to provide a service to their local community, it’s time we considered embracing the diversity of this land we all call home.
"We have editorial control over their content, provide national news stories & ensure accuracy of the translation from Mandarin to English subtitles."
Kabilang sa mga panghuhusga at akusasyon ng netizens laban sa ABS-CBN na trending ngayon ay “Ang network na gipit sa China kumakapit at in the service of the Filipino" at "This is hypocrisy at its finest."
Trending din ang hashtag na #ABSCBNTutaNgChina.
Pero ayon sa isang nakakaalam sa tunay na kuwento, "non-issue" o walang basehan ang ikinagagalit ng bashers ng Kapamilya Network.
Paliwanag ng ABS-CBN insider, "It’s a non–issue. Matagal nang nagpapalabas ng balita sa ABS-CBN ang Chinoy TV.
"Yun nga lang, tuwing Linggo noon and then nagba-blocktime sila ng Mr. and Miss Chinatown pageant, ilang taon na."
