Ang 24-year-old model at ballerina dancer na si Lalela Mswane ang official representative ng South Africa sa 70th Miss Universe.
Si Lalela ang nanalo sa 63rd Miss Universe South Africa na ginanap sa Grand West Arena, Cape Town, kagabi, October 16 (Linggo ng madaling-araw, October 17, sa Pilipinas).
Si Lalela ay kabilang sa mga makakalaban ni Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez sa international beauty pageant na mangyayari sa December 2021 sa Eilat, Israel.
Sina Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Meza at Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach ang dalawa sa pitong hurado sa coronation night ng 63rd Miss South Africa.
Si Pia ang nagtanong kay Lalela sa question-and-answer segment ng beauty pageant na nilahukan na lamang ng Top 10 candidates kaya hindi nakababagot panoorin ang programa.
“Lalela, you look very beautiful tonight. Congratulations on making this far,” bati ni Pia kay Lalela.
Tanong ni Pia: “Your question is the elections are coming up, what are you looking for in a leader?”
Sagot ni Lalela: “What I look for in a leader is somebody who’s self aware, very accountable, and encourages critical thinking, innovation, and action.
"But most importantly, prioritizes the personal development of every person in South Africa.
“I believe that a phenomenal leader possesses all these qualities."
Hindi lamang si Pia ang Pilipina at dating Miss Universe na nagkaroon ng partisipasyon sa coronation night ng 63rd Miss South Africa.
Program presenter si Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, kasama si Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi.
