Si Lara ang nagwagi sa 49th edition ng Miss Universe na nangyari sa Nicosia, Cyprus noong May 12, 2000.
Isinilang si Harnaaz noong March 3, 2000.
Dalawang buwan pa lamang siyang sanggol nang manalong Miss Universe si Lara dalawampu’t isang (21) taon na ang nakalilipas.
Napansin ito ng dating beauty queen at ginawa nitong basehan ng kanyang obserbasyon.
Mensahe ni Lara kay Harnaaz: “You are worth all your triumphant glory and much, much, more!!! You had an unshakeable belief in yourself and just knew, you were born for this.
“You were born in the year I won Miss Universe!!! That’s how long we’ve waited for you to come along and lift that crown once more for India!! Perhaps, it was destined.”

May bahid ng katotohanan ang paniniwala ni Lara na nakatadhanang maiuwi ni Harnaaz ang korona.

Ang tanong: “Many people think climate change is a hoax. What would you do to convince them otherwise.”
Sagot ni Harnaaz: “Honestly, my heart breaks to see how nature is going through a lot of problems and to all irresponsible behavior.
“And I totally feel that this is the time to take actions and talk less because each action could either kill or save nature. Prevent and protect is better than repent and repair and this is what I’m trying to convince you guys today.”
MISS DIVA 2021
Si Harnaaz ang opisyal na kinatawan ng India sa 70th Miss Universe dahil siya ang nanalo ng Miss Universe India crown sa 9th edition ng Miss Diva na idinaos sa Hyatt Regency Hotel, Mumbai noong September 30, 2021.
Nang pumili si Harnaaz ng sobreng naglalaman ng paksang tatalakayin sa coronation night ng 9th Miss Diva, tungkol sa climate change ang nabunot at sinagot niya.
Tila pahiwatig ito sa magiging kapalaran niya sa 70th Miss Universe dahil may kinalaman din sa naturang isyu ang itinanong sa kanya ni Sofer.
“My topic is global warming and climate change,” umpisa ng pananalita ni Harnaaz matapos basahin ang papel na laman ng sobre na kanyang binuksan.
“One day life will flash before your eyes, make sure it’s worth watching but this is not the life you want to watch.
“But climate is dying, the environment is dying. It is one of the fiasco that us, as human, has done to the environment, but I think we still have time to undo our irresponsible behavior.
“Earth is all what we have in common and this small act as individuals when multiplied by billions, it can transform the whole world. Start now, from tonight, switch off all those extra lights when not in use. Thank you.”
