"Age at memory issues” ang mga dahilan ng pagreretiro sa live concerts ng legendary American singer na si Johnny Mathis, na nakatakdang magdiwang ng ika-90 na kaarawan sa Setyembre 30, 2025.
Inanunsyo sa official website ni Mathis ang pagreretiro nito at pagbabalik ng bayad sa mga bumili ng tickets para sa natitirang four legs ng Voice of Romance Tour sa U.S.
Sa Nobyembre 8 pa sana ang pagwawakas ng final concert ni Mathis, pero napaaga dahil sa lumalalang kalagayan ng kalusugan niya.
Hanggang Mayo 18 na lamang ang kanyang pagtatanghal, at ikinalungkot ito ng mga tagahanga ng legendary singer.
Siya ang nagpasikat sa mga kantang "Misty, When A Child Is Born," "A Certain Smile," "Wonderful," Wonderful," "When I Am With You," "Chances Are" at "Love Story."
Nakasaad sa anunsyo sa official website ni Mathis:
"As many of you may already be aware, Johnny Mathis is approaching his 90th birthday this year.
"So, it’s with sincere regret that due to Mr. Mathis’s age and memory issues, which have accelerated, we are announcing his retirement from touring & live concerts.
"At this time, the 2025 Voice of Romance Tour dates will continue with the final concert currently scheduled on May 18, 2025 in Englewood, New Jersey at the Bergen PAC.
"Additional updates will be posted as necessary.
"Johnny Mathis & his entire staff send their heartfelt gratitude to all Mathis Fans worldwide for your continued love & support of his music! It’s truly been 'Wonderful, Wonderful.'"

WHO IS JOHNNY MATHIS?
Kinikilala si Mathis sa industriya ng musika sa buong mundo bilang isa sa mga best-selling recording artists ng 20th century.
Nagsimula ang kanyang singing career sa edad na 21 noong 1956, at tumanggap siya ng maraming parangal, tulad ng Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award noong 2003.
Nagkaroon si Mathis ng matagumpay na pagtatanghal sa Araneta Coliseum sa Quezon City dahil sa kanyang popularidad sa mga Pilipino.
Nagtanghal si Mathis sa Big Dome mula Oktubre 14 hanggang Oktubre 23, 1960 dahil sa kahilingan ng kanyang mga tagahanga na Pilipino.
Noong 2017, kinumpirma ni Mathis sa panayam sa kanya ng CBS News Sunday ang matagal nang haka-haka na miyembro siya ng LGBTQ community.
"I come from San Francisco. It’s not unusual to be gay in San Francisco.
"I’ve had some girlfriends, some boyfriends, just like most people.
"But I never got married, for instance.
"I knew that I was gay," ang rebelasyon ni Mathis.
