Makalipas ang matagal na panahon, muling tumuntong sa bakuran ng GMA Network ang aktres at former ABS-CBN president na si Charo Santos.
Nagpunta si Charo sa GMA-7 building para sa guesting nila ni Dingdong Dantes, kaugnay ng promo ng pelikula nilang Only We Know, sa Fast Talk With Boy Abunda ngayong Biyernes ng hapon, Mayo 16, 2025.
"Muli" dahil si Charo ang unang co-host ni German Moreno sa Sunday morning variety program ng GMA-7 noong 1979 bago siya naging top television executive ng Kapamilya Network.

CHICHARON AS TALENT FEE
Sa panayam sa kanya ni Boy Abunda, ikinuwento ni Charo na chicharon lamang ang talent fee niya nang maging co-host siya ng pumanaw na star builder at TV host.
Natatawang pagbabalik-tanaw ni Charo: “That was my first show here. I was the first co-host of the late German Moreno.
"Before it became GMA Supershow, it was called Germspesyal.
“I would come here every Sunday and do the hosting chore with him.
“Tapos nung araw, wala pang talent fee. You have to do everything on your own. That’s why it also trained me to be self-reliant and to be independent.
“I remember, after the show, binibigyan ako ng isang basket ng chicharon. Yun na yung talent fee.
"I think ex-deals or whatever. I didn’t know any better. I never had a manager so I was doing things on my own."
Pero ayon kay Charo, naging masaya siya bilang co-host ng Germspesyal, kahit chicharon lamang ang bayad sa kanya noon dahil marami siyang natutunan sa mundo ng telebisyon.
“But I had fun doing it," sambit niya.
"Siguro mga three months, and then after three months, basta one Sunday, he gave me a small amount.
"Sabi ko, 'Ay, may talent fee na! Siguro the advertising revenues are coming in. Maybe so.
“Now that I understand television, sometimes you start a show without ad revenues.”
Nagwagi si Charo bilang best actress sa 1977 Asian Film Festival para sa pelikulang Itim bago siya nagkaroon ng partisipasyon sa programa ni German.
“I think I already won one best actress for Itim, and I was in the crossroads, choosing between pursuing acting or going into hosting,” sabi ni Charo.

BOY ABUNDA'S ANECDOTE ABOUT CHARO SANTOS
Hindi naman na maalala ni Charo ang anekdota ni Boy tungkol sa kabutihang ipinadama niya noon sa TV host.
Lahad ni Boy: “Hindi mo siguro ito naalaal. I got sick in 2013 when I was working for ABS-CBN.
“She was our president, so I went back to work one day. You came down to my dressing room and she gave me a cheque of PHP200,000.
“Alam mo kung bakit, iniisip ko yon and you don’t remember these things.
"Hindi naman sa pagmamayabang, it was not something like I needed it, but that touched me in a very, very special way.
“Na parang my president, you know, you may have wondered dati na madalas na sinasabi ko ‘My president.’ I was coming from there.
“I was coming from that experience na the fact that you remembered. The fact that you cared, iba yun, e.
"And if you know the background of Charo, yun na nga, galing sa hosting without a cheque, without a contract, without negotiations, I just celebrate you.
"You were really kind, I just wanted to say that."
Napangiti at nagpasalamat naman si Charo, kahit hindi na niya natatandaan ang ginawa niya noon kay Boy.
