FAMILY AND COLLEAGUES PAY TRIBUTE TO COCOY LAUREL
DENISE LAUREL (published as is): "With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of my beloved uncle, mentor and confidant Cocoy Laurel — a gifted actor, singer, and a man that LIVED FOR GOD.
“He graced the world with his world class talent, his saint like kindness, his massive heart filled with love for everyone ,generosity and his unwavering faith.
"His voice — one that moved so many hearts and lifted spirits — now leading the heavenly choir, singing praises before the throne of the One he served so deeply reunited with his friends and family.”

FRANCO LAUREL (published as is): "I will forever treasure the moments we shared. You were a true inspiration — one of the reasons I am the artist I am today.
"I still remember the first time I watched you on stage — The King & I, Pippin, West Side Story, Camelot — and so many more. You brought magic to every performance.
“I’ll never forget those childhood days at the old house in Shaw with my Mom, when you would ask me to sing. I remember so clearly how you once told me: 'When you sing, think of it like the waves in the ocean — let it flow.' Those words stayed with me and helped shape not only how I sing, but who I am as an artist.
“Thank you, Tito Cocoy, for being so loving and kind to me and my family. Your love and light will always live in my heart. I know you're now singing and dancing your heart out in Heaven.”

ZSA ZSA PADILLA (published as is): "Thank you for the beautiful gift of 'Point of No Return,' which you composed with Louie Ocampo. It became one of my signature songs, and I’ll always think of you when I sing it.
“I didn’t know our last meeting at Malacañang last May would be our final one. You were so gracious, kind, and generous with your words. I was lucky to be seated beside you that day.
“Rest well, Cocoy. May you be in the loving embrace of our Creator.”

ISAY ALVAREZ (published as is): "I love you, Cocoy Laurel... we have so many unforgettable memories during our stint in Miss Saigon... ever so sweet, gentleman, generous and an immense talent yet so grounded and humble. Always reassuring.
“I will never forget your famous lines before every show... 'You're so good. Pray for me, ha?’ and ‘Have a good one!!’
“So dear Coy... pray for me, ha? Have a good one... in heaven! We love you.”
JENINE DESIDERIO (published as is): "It is truly a sad day to hear of your passing. I was an ingenue in my late teens when I first met you. We were the Gibson Cloisters (you, Michael Williams, Isay & I) because we lived right next to each other in Islington, London.
“You made me believe in myself & my talents when I didn’t even know I had them. Your constant praise gave me wings to fly…
“You taught me the songs of The King & I on your piano & pushed me to audition. Thanks to you, I passed. But could not do it because of my contract w/ Saigon.
“I was lucky to play your love interest in Simon’s Way. I could go on & on but there’s just so much! The portrait you made for me still hangs in my living room up to this day.
"Fly free, Coy…. I will forever be grateful. We love you!”
