Binawian ng buhay si James sa Cairns, Queensland, Australia, noong Enero 2, 2026.

Siya ay 82.

Sa guesting ni Anne sa Fast Talk With Boy Abunda ngayong Huwebes, Pebrero 5, napag-usapan ang pagkawala ng kanyang ama.

Bagi ito, humingi muna ng paumanhin si Boy Abunda dahil hindi umano ito nagkaroon ng pagkakataong makiramay noon kina Anne.

Mesahe ng TV host: “I was having a conversation with Jasmine [Anne’s sister] and I told you off cam and I wanna do this in front of you right now, my deepest condolences kasi I didn’t get the chance.

"You know how close your sister is to me and you know how fond I am of you, but I really apologize because right at that very moment, ni hindi man lang ako nakatawag. Yung totoo, from the bottom of my heart."

Sagot naman ni Anne: “Thank you so much and, in fact, to everyone that reached out to us, I’m sorry for I never got back right away.

"And you would know this, like, how hard that being in that bubble is that sometimes you don’t read messages. You don’t read your emails.

"And finally, I’m back.

“Jasmine is back as well, and work is a great outlet to just kind of, like, starting moving forward. But thank you so much."

Dagdag pa ni Anne: “I’ve said this, grief really comes in waves.

"Like, one day I am okay, and the next time, Dahlia will say, 'I miss Granddad,' and then I’m just like a mess.

“Yeah, it comes in waves.

"But you know, each day, as you said earlier, Tito Boy, parang you never actually…”

Si Dahlia ang anak ni Anne at ng kanyang mister na si Erwan Heussaff.

Inalala ni Boy ang pagkamatay ng kanyang ina noong Disyembre 2019 kaya sinabi niya kay Anne: “No, it never goes away. I am sorry to say, it never goes away.

"Pero hanggang sa panahon, my psychiatrist told me and said, 'Make that your connection to your mother.'

"So, every time you cry na hindi ka handa, because you can do that in the middle of a journey literally, you can do that habang taking a shower, use that as an expression of love."

Ikinuwento naman ni Anne ang reaksiyon ng kanyang anak na si Dahlia nang masaksihan nito ang pagdadalamhati niya.

“And you know, even Dahlia told me when I had my little breakdown in front of her, she was shocked but she said, ‘You know, Mama, just think that Granddad is a cloud in front of you.’
