Muling naging laman ng mga balita ang pangalan ng King of Philippine Movies na si Fernando Poe Jr. mula pa noong Miyerkules, Pebrero11, 2026.

Ito ay dahil sa trahedyang nangyari sa Fernando Poe Jr. station ng LRT-1 sa EDSA — ang pagtalon ng isang 23-year-old male college student mula sa Northbound platform ng naturang istasyon.

Namatay ang estudyante at nakaladkad pa siya ng isang dumaraang sasakyan.

Kinumpirma ng operator ng LRT-1 ang pagtalon umano ng biktima na nakunan ng dashcam.

Pero nanlumo ang publiko sa pahayag ni Quezon City Police District (QCPD) spokesperson Police Major Jenny Gannaban na nasa kustodiya nila ang driver ng sasakyan na posibleng sampahan ng kasong reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.

Marami ang nabahala at nakisimpatiya sa driver dahil naniniwala silang nadamay lamang siya at posibleng nagkaroon din ng trauma sa ginawa ng biktima habang binabagtas niya ang kahabaan ng EDSA.

Tanong ng isang netizen: “So kailangan titingin din sa itaas ang mga driver kapag dumaan sila sa LRT dahil baka may tumalon?”

Naniniwala rin ang natizen na walang pananagutan ang driver sa naganap na trahedya kaya hindi ito dapat sampahan ng reklamo.

DRIVER IN LRT-1 FALL INCIDENT RELEASED FROM JAIL

Ngayong Huwebes ng gabi, Pebrero 12, naglabas ang QCPD ng press statement.

Nakasaad ditong pinalaya na ang driver ng sasakyan, na hindi sinasadyang kumaladkad sa biktima na tumalon mula sa LRT-1 Fernando Poe Jr. station.

Ang kabuuan ng statement ng QCPD: “The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) conducted a thorough investigation into the incident involving a male student who reportedly fell from the platform area of the FPJ LRT-1 Station at around 10:30 AM on February 11, 2026.

"Initial investigation and CCTV review show no apparent indication of negligence on the part of the driver.

“The driver cooperated with authorities and was placed under police custody in accordance with the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the Philippine National Police (PNP), as the incident involved a fatality. This measure is a part of the investigative process to ensure proper documentation and compliance with legal requirements.

“Moreover, the father executed a notarized letter manifesting that he is not pursuing a complaint against the driver. Thereafter, the driver was released from the custody of Traffic Sector 6 at 4:10 PM today, February 12, 2026.

“The QCPD extends its sincere condolences to the bereaved family and assures the public of its commitment to conduct a fair, impartial, and transparent investigation.”
