Mismong si Sagip Party-list Representative Paolo Marcoleta ang nagbigay ng dahilan sa netizens para batikusin siya dahil sa kanyang maling pahayag.
Inilagay ni Marcoleta ang sarili sa alanganing sitwasyon dahil mali ang linya ng isang popular na karakter sa pelikulang binanggit niya nang magsalita siya tungkol sa pinagdidiskusyunang pagbubukas ng kahon na naglalaman ng tax records ni Vice President Sara Duterte at ng asawa nitong si Atty. Mans Carpio.
“At sinabi rin ni Popoy sa pelikula, 'I deserve an explanation. I deserve an acceptable reason.’
“Siguraduhin niyo po na kung bubuksan niyo yan, mayroong kayong acceptable reason na naaayon sa batas,” buong tiwala sa sariling sabi ni Marcoleta sa pagdinig ng House Justice Committee sa kaso ng impeachment laban kay VP Duterte noong Miyerkules, Abril 29, 2026.

PAPA P, NOT POPOY
Kaagad namang nilinaw ni Akbayan party-list Representative Perci Cendaña sa harap ng committee na maling karakter at pelikula ang binanggit ni Marcoleta.
Saad ni Cendaña: “Apologies to everyone, I know that the public is waiting for the decision regarding the opening of the box.
"However, a Popoy and Basha line was mentioned earlier by Rep. Marcoleta. He attributed the ‘deserve an explanation’ to Popoy.
“It wasn’t from Popoy. Let me clarify.
"This was from Papa P, from Piolo Pascual, in the film Starting Over Again.
"And I hope that as we decide on this matter, this will not lead us to starting over again."
Si Piolo Pascual, na ginampanan ang karakter ni Marco Antonio Villanueva III, at hindi si John Lloyd Cruz ang nagbitaw ng linyang sinabi ni Marcoleta.
Ang linya ay mula sa Starting Over Again, ang blockbuster movie ng Star Cinema noong 2014.
Si Popoy naman ang karakter na ginampanan ni John Lloyd Cruz sa One More Chance, ang certified hit movie ng Star Cinema noong 2007.
Ang iconic line ni John Lloyd/Popoy sa One More Chance ay ito: “She loved me at my worst. You had me at my best.”
MARCOLETA: "HAWAK NIYA ANG BEAT."
Bago ang bloooper ni Marcoleta sa kanyang movie-character reference, naghatid din siya ng cringe moment nang sabihin niya sa committee hearing: “Sabi nga ni Madam Chair, 'Hawak niya ang beat.' Sino ba naman ako para pigilan ito?
"Sabi nga ng kanta, 'Huwag mong bibitawan. Huwag niyo nang bitawan yung box.’
Ang tinutukoy ni Marcoleta na "Madam Chair" ay si House Justice Committee Chairperson Representative Gerville Luistro.
May sariling cringe moment si Luistro sa impeachment complaints hearing laban kay VP Duterte nang magbitaw siya ng mga salitang “Tungkol sa mga naibunyag ng AMLC [Anti-Money Laundering Council], lalo na yung PHP6.7 billion, hindi raw nila sinasabing tama o mali ang mga numerong ito ngunit ang payo nila, 'Be cautious.' Mag-ingat daw tayo.
“Naalala tuloy natin si John Lloyd Cruz sa kanyang karakter na Popo, kapag pinapayuhan tayo ni Popoy na 'Ingat.'"
Ang tunutukoy naman ni Luistro ay ang iconic line ni John Lloyd sa dating commercial ng Biogesic.
REP. BRIAN POE: "REFFRAIN FROM USING POP CULTENCES."
Kaugnay nito, pinuna ni FPJ Panday Bayanihan Party-list Representative Brian Poe ang references nina Marcoleta at Luistro sa mga movie character ng mga artista.
Paalala ni Poe sa kanyang mga kasamahan sa Kongreso: “Kung puwede, if we can refrain from using pop culture references in our manifestations and statements.
“This is a serious matter, this is the impeachment of the second-highest official in our government and I believe it should be treated with the same amount of respect and gravity."
