Ilang araw nang nababasa sa mga entertainment news site ang pangalan ni NBI Director Atty. Melvin Matibag.
Siya ang naghain ng reklamo laban sa mga podcaster ng Machong Chismisan na nang-insulto sa anak nina Kris Aquino at Phillip Salvador na si Joshua Aquino.
Si Matibag din ang nilapitan ni Claudine Barretto para sa reklamong cyber libel na isinampa ng aktres laban sa entertainment writer at host na si Cristy Fermin.

Marami ang hindi nakakaalam na may showbiz connection si Matibag dahil pamangkin niya ang aktor at direktor na si Christian Paolo Lat.
Noong 2022, nagsilbi rin si Matibag bilang isa sa mga executive producer ng Ginhawa, ang sports-crime drama na pinagbidahan ni Andrew Ramsay.
Ang Ginhawa ay opisyal na kalahok sa 18th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival at mula sa direksyon ni Christian.
Hindi lamang action movies ang ginagawa ni Christian dahil marami sa mga proyekto niya ang napapanood sa VMX, tulad ng Tatak Jenn Rosa, Ekis, Sugar Baby, Unang Pasok, Daddy’s Girl, Dilig, Akin Ka Lang, at Himas.

DIREK CHRISTIAN ON HIS TITO MELVIN
Malapit na kamag-anak ni Christian si NBI Director Matibag dahil kapatid ito ng kanyang ina.
At sa kanilang pamilya, dalawa silang "director."
“Si Tito is my mom’s brother. Basically we have two director’s in the family!” natatawang sabi ni Christian.
NBI director kasi ang kanyang Tito Melvin at movie director naman si Christian.
Sa panayam ng Cabinet Files kay Christian, sinabi nitong hindi siya sigurado kung napapanood ng kanyang Tito Melvin ang VMX movies niya dahil sa dami ng mga trabaho nito sa NBI.
Saad ng movie director: "He’s busy with work so I don’t really think he has time to watch any films.
"Pero yung mga project ko, he’s very supportive po of what I do right now, especially kapag may action films ako, he supports me.
“Nung nakausap ko siya, I brought up na I would like to train with the NBI because I wanna portray such role.
"I wanna show some level of professionality when it comes to that.”
Para kay Christian, advantage na tiyo niya si Matibag.
Paliwanag niya, “Because we’re from a different side of the industry, I guess I would say it’s more of an advantage because I admire what he does.”
Nabanggit ni Christian sa Cabinet Files ang pag-uusap nila ng isang American director.
”'Hey, I would like you to be an NBI agent.'
"I was like, 'Yeah, I know someone from the NBI.'
“He was like, ‘How connected are you to the NBI?'
"I was like, ‘It’s family.’
“Nagulat siya."
Pagpapatuloy ni Christian: "You know, when it comes to that, natutuwa lang ako kasi sa US, di ba, marami silang movie about the FBI, CIA, CSI?
"So at some point, I’ve always wanted to create movies about that agency.”
May posibilidad bang magsama sila ni NBI Director Matibag sa isang proyekto?
”He’s very busy with work so hopefully in the near future,” sagot ni Direk Christian.
