Sa hindi inaasahang pangyayari, nagkaroon ng isyu tungkol sa How To Be You?, ang lifestyle show sa GMA News TV na tinatampukan ni Will Devaughn at ng mag-asawang Diana Zubiri at Andy Smith.
Kahapon ng umaga, Sabado, 11:30 am, ang pilot telecast ng How To Be You? pero ilang araw bago ang airing nito, nakatanggap ng sulat mula kay Cesar Gallarin (executive director of Great Commission Television Network TV) si Christopher Tengco, ang producer ng bagong programa ng GMA News TV.
Nakasaad sa sulat na ipinadala ni Gallarin na may existing show ang GCTV na kapareho ng pamagat ng show nina Zubiri, Smith at Devaughn kaya hinihiling niyang palitan ang pangalan ng programa.
Narito ang kabuuan ng sulat ni Gallarin:
“We are writing to you on behalf of the Great Commission Television Network (GCTV), a Christian TV channel airing over Channel 185 on Cignal TV. GCTV currently produces an entrepreneurial show entitled “How To Be You Po? The EntrePinoy Stories.
“How To Be You Po? The EntrePinoy Stories” has been airing over GCTV since September 2018; and our organization has already filed copyright ownership for the said show as of October 2018.
“It has come to our attention that a similar show is now being produced or directed by you for GMA 7 and is targeted to air on 27th October 2018 per Facebook post dated 7th October 2018.
“The title of your show is How To Be You? which is confusingly similar to the title of the above-mentioned show.
“We have attached some screenshots of the Facebook for your reference.
“We would also like to remind you that under the Intellectual Property law, an original work is defined as intellectual creations in the literary and artistic domain and are protected from the moment of their creation (Sec.172 Chapter 11 of Republic Act 8293).
“Moreover, Sec.172.2 of the same law also provides that: 172.2.Works are protected by the sole fact of their creation,irrespective of their mode or form of expression, as well as of their content, quality and purpose.
“For these foregoing reasons, we request that you change the name of your show in the interest of ethical and responsible programming.”
