Hindi pa rin pinapayagan ang walk-in passport applicants sa consular offices (COs) at maging sa temporary offsite passport services (TOPS) sa buong bansa.
Ito ang inihayag ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) noong November 16, 2021.
Ang paglilinaw ay ginawa ng DFA matapos muling kumalat sa social media ang isang lumang advisory noon pang 2016 na nagdulot ng kalituhan sa mga seafarers at Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
Ayon sa ahensiya, "A DFA advisory stating that no appointment is needed for OFWs intending to renew their passports at DFA Consular Office NCR (National Capital Region) Central is currently circulating on social media.
“This is an old advisory issued in 2016 before the pandemic, and is no longer applicable.
"Walk-ins are no longer allowed in DFA CO NCR Central and in all DFA COs and TOPS facilities, in view of the current health emergency arising from the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic."
STRICTLY BY APPOINTMENT ONLY
Nagpapatupad ang DFA ng by appointment-only arrangement para sa passport and apostille services nito, maging sa mga nag-a-avail ng courtesy lane.
Epektibo ang patakarang ito simula pa noong May 2020 bilang bahagi ng pagsisikap ng ahensiya na magkaloob nang patuloy na serbisyo kahit may pandemya.
Pinapayuhan ng DFA ang mga passport applicants na active OFWs na para makaiwas sa abala ay mag-set ng kanilang appointments sa https://passport.gov.ph/ at piliin ang DFA NCR Central (Robinsons Galleria - Active OFW Lane) site.
Sinabi rin ng DFA na ang mga passport applicant ay dapat na mag-refer lang sa kanilang official website at social media accounts para sa updated announcements.
