Pinag-uusapan ang Facebook post ni Ericka Mae Maquidato Patalinghug tungkol sa service crew member na si “Kuya Prince.”
Pinuri ni Ericka ang dekalidad na serbisyo ni Kuya Prince sa kabila ng pagkakaroon nito ng kapansanan.
At press time, mayroon na itong 156K reactions, 1.8K comments, at 56K shares.
Ayon sa post ni Ericka nitong Sabado, November 12, si Prince ay “PWD (person with disability)."
Sa kabila nito, “he quickly responded to our needs and happily assisted us.”
Tampok sa post ang photo ni Prince na may suot na I.D. kung saan nakasulat dito ang: “Hi I’m Prince PWD. Can only communicate in writing.”
Hinangaan din ni Ericka ang unlimited Korean grill establishment na kanilang kinainan sa Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City.
“Kudos to Romantic Baboy, who opened their doors to persons with disability just like Kuya Prince.”
“I hope more companies will open their doors to people like Kuya Prince.”
Isa pang netizen ang pinatotohanan ang post ni Ericka.
Ni-repost nito ang FB post ni Ericka ukol kay Prince.
Caption ng netizen: “So happy to see him in this post. Chekaii and I were dining earlier and he was our main server.
“And Sir Prince, with his cheeky attitude, knows our needs even before we call attention from the time we arrived to the time we left, he accommodated us warmly.
“Cheers to you, Sir!”
REPUBLIC ACT NO. 10524: AN ACT EXPANDING THE POSITION RESERVED FOR PWDs
Sa ilalim ng batas na RA No. 10524, mahigpit na pinangangalagaan ang karapatan ng PWDs, lalo na sa usapin ng inclusion o pagkakaroon ng parehong oportunidad sa mga trabaho at compensation packages tulad ng iba.
“A qualified employee with disability shall be subject to the same terms and conditions of employment and the same compensation, privileges, benefits, fringe benefits, incentives or allowances as a qualified able bodied person.”
Binabanggit din dito na 1% ng available job positions sa mga government offices, agencies, at corporations ay dapat ilaan sa PWDs.
Gayundin ang sa mga companies na may allotment na 100 o higit pang mga empleyado.
Suportado ito ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Noong July, 2022, sa pagdiriwang ng National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week, binanggit ni Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma sa Philstar.com ang pagsusumikap ng kanyang ahensiya upang palawigin ang bilang ng employed PWDs sa government at private companies.
Ayon kay Secretary Laguesma, “We vow to continue pushing for the rights of the workers with disabilities toward their personal and societal advancement.”
SOME COMPANIES THAT EMPLOY PWDs
Kabilang sa mga kumpanyang nagha-hire ng mga PWDs ay ang Shakey’s o Pizza Asia Ventures Inc. (PIZZA).
Gumawa ito ng ingay nito lamang September sa pagbubukas ng mga job opportunities hindi lamang sa PWDs, kundi maging sa mga senior citizens.
Katuwang ang Public Employment Service Office ng siyudad ng Manila, bawat branch ng Shakey’s sa lugar ay tatanggap ng isang PWD at isang senior citizen na empleyado.
Paniwala ni PIZZA President and Chief Executive Officer Vicente Gregorio, malaki ang potential ng sektor na makatulong sa mga kumpanyang katulad nila.
Aniya sa isang panayam sa The Manila Times, “Many of the elderly and PWDs have the capability and desire to take an active part in our society through gainful employment but, sadly, are often overlooked.”
Ang Fruitas Holdings, Inc. ay nagpapatupad din ng isang inclusive labor policy.
Katunayan, mahigit 2,000 sa mga empleyado nito ay PWDs, cancer survivors, illiterate individuals, at sila ay compensated nang naaayon sa batas.
Samantala, ang UNILAB Foundation, sa pamamagitan ng kanilang Project Inclusion program, ay nakikipagtulungan sa mga kumpanya upang magbigay ng mas maraming job opportunities sa mga PWDs simula pa noong 2013.
Halos 2,000 na ang kanilang natulungan at nabigyan ng trabaho sa drugstores, ice cream shops, at multinational corporations.
