Magtataas ang pamasahe sa Light Rail Transtil (LRT) -1 at LRT-2 simula August 2, 2023, ayon sa Department of Transportation (DOTr) ngayong Lunes, June 19, 2023.
Ang minimum fare ay magiging PHP13.29 mula sa dating PHP11 (tumaas ng 2.29), at may dagdag na PHP1.21 kada additional kilometro (dating PHP1 kada kilometro).
Ani DOTr Assistant Secretary for Railways Jorjette Aquino, ang taas-singil ay para mas pag-igihin ang serbisyo, amenities, at technical capacities ng LRT-1 at LRT-2.
“We at the Department of Transportation believe that this fare adjustment will contribute to maintaining affordable mass transportation services for the two commuter-train lines,” ani Aquino.
Inaprubahan ni Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista ang implementasyon ng approved fare adjustment kasunod ng naganap na Cabinet meeting sa Malacañang noong June 6, 2023.
Nakipagpulong si Bautista kina Light Rail Transit Authority Administrator Hernando Cabrera at Light Rail Manila Corporation President at Chief Executive Juan Alfonso noong June 13 para abisuhan sila kaugnay ng fare increase.
Kasunod ng taas-pasahe, maglalagak ang LRTA ng PHP110 million sa projected PHP114 million added rail revenues para sa repairs, maintenance, at operating expenses nito, ani Assistant Secretary Aquino.
Ang fare adjustments ay ilalathala sa mga pahayagan sa June 19, June 26, at July 3 bago ang implementasyon ng dagdag-singil sa August 2.
