Kailangan na talagang magtanggal ang passengers ng kanilang mga sapatos at sandals sa airport checkpoints para sa final security screening.
Ayon sa Office for Transportation Security (OTS), magiging karagdagang security layer ito sa mga paliparan.
Post ng OTS via Facebook: “This measure aims to enhance the overall security of passengers and airport/airline staff, in consonance with global security standards and best practices.”
Sinabi ng ahensiya na ang policy na ito, “provides an advanced layer of scrutiny while identifying potential security threats.”
Bago ang recent announcement na ito ng OTS, may kalituhan para sa ibang pasahero kung magtatanggal ba sila ng footwear o hindi.
At bagamat kasama ito dapat sa protocol, marami pa rin daw ang nakakalusot.

Sa report ng ABS-CBN News, may mga pasaherong nagsabi na hindi umano consistent ang pagpapatupad ng policy na ito sa airport—minsan pinapatanggal, minsan ay hindi.
Pero matapos ang recent announcement ng OTS, asahang ipapatupad na ito.
Nagpaliwanag naman si OTS Administrator Undersecretary Ma.O Aplasca tungkol sa “strict implementation” ng footwear removal policy.
Sabi niya: “The mandatory footwear removal policy is an old policy, which we are trying to strictly implement, to prevent circumvention of our security processes.
“This policy remains to be effective in detecting prohibited items including explosives and other dangerous materials that may be concealed inside the footwear.
“This shall be the norm regardless of the security condition level, and even when the threat is low."
Giit ni Aplasca, “We have to be proactive, hindi na natin dapat hintayin na magkaroon pa ng threat before we implement it.”
Sinabi ni Aplasca na marahil ay magdulot ito ng “inconvenience” sa mga pasahero, kaya humihingi siya ng pasensiya.
Gayunpaman, para sa kabutihan ito ng airports nationwide para mas secure ang "global transportation system with our international counterparts.”
Inaabisuhan naman ang mga pasahero na magsuot ng footwear na madaling tanggalin para hindi sila masyadong maabala.
