Sisimulan na ng LRT-1 Cavite Extension Phase 1 ang commercial operations nito ngayong November 2024.
Ito ang inianunsyo ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) nitong November 7.
Sinabi ni Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista na ang bagong LRT-1 segment ay bubuksan na sa mga susunod na linggo.

Ayon kay Bautista sa ginanap na press briefing sa Malacañang, “We hope that this opening of the extension of LRT-1 will help alleviate traffic as it will be able to support thousands of passengers.
“This will be our early Christmas gift to the residents of the area.”
Sa pagbubukas ng Phase 1, nasa anim na kilometro ang maidadagdag sa transit line, na magkokonekta sa Baclaran Station sa Pasay City hanggang sa Dr. Santos (formerly Sucat) Station sa Parañaque City.

WHAT ARE THE NEW STATIONS THAT WILL BE ADDED TO LRT-1 CAVITE EXTENSION PHASE 1?
Sa bagong segment, limang bagong stations sa Phase 1 ang mapapabilang kasama ang Redemptorist–Aseana Station, MIA Road Station, PITX Station, Ninoy Aquino Avenue Station, at Dr. Santos Station.
Dahil dito, ang travel time mula Quezon City papuntang Parañaque City ay mababawasan ng isang oras, ayon kay Light Rail Manila Corp. President and Chief Executive Officer Enrico Benipayo.

HOW MANY PASSENGERS WILL BENEFIT FROM MRT-1 CAVITE EXTENSION PHASE 1?
Kapag operational na ang Phase 1, ang pinahabang LRT-1 ay tinatayang makakapagbigay-serbisyo sa hanggang 80,000 pasahero araw-araw.
Sa kasalukuyan, ang average ridership ng LRT-1 kada araw ay nasa 320,000 pasahero.
Ang second phase naman ng LRT 1 Cavite extension ay kinabibilangan ng Las Piñas station at Zapote station, habang ang third and last phase ay ang Niog station.
