MRT and LRT to go cashless this July 2025

Tina-target ipatupad ang cashless transactions para sa mga pasahero ng Light Rail Transit (LRT) at Metro Rail Transit (MRT) pagdating ng Hulyo 2025.

Ito ang pinaplano ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) para maiwasan ang pagkakaroon ng build-up ng pila at para mas mapabilis ang biyahe.

Sa cashless transactions, puwede nang gamitin ang electronic wallet (e-wallet), debit cards, at credit cards sa LRT at MRT stations, ulat ng GMA Integrated News.

Ita-tap lamang ang mobile phones at cards sa scanner para makapasok sa mismong istasyon.

Sa kasalukuyan, gumagamit ng reloadable beep cards o stored-value cards at single-use tickets ang mga pasahero.

Kailangan pang pumila kapag bibili ng single-use tickets at tuwing ire-reload ang beep cards.

During rush hour, nagkakaroon talaga ng pila.

Sabi ni DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon, magkakaroon ng cashless turnstiles para sa pagpapatupad ng automatic fare collection system pagsapit ng Hulyo.

Paraan daw ito upang mas maging modern at mas efficient ang public transportation.
